Of course.
I do not want to be in a situation where the racking of the slide slows down the process when seconds count and also, if you are being sneaky in pulling it out (behind a wall or something) I would not want to give myself away.

Absolutely... if I wanted to carry a rock, I would have saved the licensing and class fees!! Besides, what if you are under attack when you need it? You can't call time out to rack it!

Loaded to +1 capicity. Carrying in condition 2 or 3 is too risky. Also, I carry a point 'n shoot gun no safety to mess with. My 1911s and my Hi Power are range toys.

If you were asking, to convince yourself how to carry, well that comes down to your comfort level.
If you do not think are ready to carry, with 1 in the pipe and ready to go, then don't.
Over time, you may find yourself more sure in how you carry and carry condition 1, or you may not.
I know a few people who do not carry that way, they just think they will have time to rack the slide (I hope they are right) or the trade off isn't there, to go condition 1 when the odds of actually needing it to use your weapon defensively is quite low.

Of course. No matter what I carry. From a 1911 to a Glock, I always carry with one in the chamber.

Now, if you're going to be dumb and just stuff it into your waistband or pocket without some sort of holster, then maybe you shouldn't.....but I have a proper holster for every gun I own so I can carry it ready to go.
