9mm Handguns

#1

Post by Rugerboy50 »

Like shooting 9mm and i now have my daughter shooting with me.

She loves my kimber 9mm and doesn't like my M&P 9mm trigger.

What's a solid in between model. Not interested in Glocks. Can't see a Brwoning highpower or the sort for the price.

Right now Springfield XD is the leading contender for the 400 to 600 dollar range pistol.

...for $300-$400, the stainless Ruger P95 can't be beat...either in safety model or decocker...they're easy to conceal, ultra-reliable, and easy to shoot...had my sons shooting a P95 from 8 on...and a P97...oh, sorry, that's not a 9 :evil2:

Howabout a Kahr CW9 or a Sig P250?

Warning: words of a newbie: my choices were XDM 3.8 compact (sweet) and Ruger LC9 (long trigger). I also enjoyed the feel and trigger of Ruger SR 9 compact. 2 cents worth.

I don't own one and have not fired one but I have handled the S&W M&P 9 at the gunshop. It has a grip that is pretty friendly to smaller hands and I have heard good things about it. There are other 9's I like better but not in the price range you mentioned. Buds has the M&P 9 listed at 478.00.

I just noticed you mentioned she does not like the trigger on the M&P. Sorry about the post.

You need to seriously look at the Walther PPQ. It is now my favorite polymer handgun and is superb. It is in your $400-600 budget. The trigger is the best of any of the current polymer offerings in my opinion.

If she doesn't like the M&P trigger, you really ought to take her shopping with you. My experience is many of the DA and DAO suggestions will have worse triggers. Let her dry fire a bunch of nines and (also important) see how they feel in her hands and how they point.

I have fired the Ruger LC9 and I disliked the trigger pull on it. It was very long IMHO, and felt almost rough or gritty. maybe it was just the gun but that was my feeling on it.

Don't get a new gun. Get a new Apex Tactical trigger kit for M&P. Easy self install. Night and day difference in trigger weight and smoothness.

How about FN FNP or FNX, really easy to rack the slide.

In the other hand, a CZ75B.

Both are in the $600 range.

Just my 2c.

Is there any such thing as a polymer pistol with a 1911 like trigger?
