Has anyone tried it yet? Any thoughts on performance? Might just get it to have it as a show and tell kinda thing.

Looks like standard issue FMJ's with an advertising gimmick. Nothing more. They been around since Halloween and I believe someone here posted a video on it as well. Awesome advertising for Halloween but extremely unnecessary. Plus everyone knows to use a .22 for zombies.. :P Every other caliber is just overkill.. :biggrinjester:  :smilelol5: :fire :anamatedbanana

I don't think it's FMJ. In handgun calibers, I think it's essentially Critical Defense with a green polymer plug instead of red.

I saw these yesterday at Bass Pro.

I picked up the box, saw the zombies, read the warning that these are real bullet's and not toys and then put the box down.

Total gimmick marketing and nothing special about them... with the exception that they will kill zombies of course.

I bought some just for the heck of it.

They appear to be their Critical Defense ammo with a green instead of pink insert in the hollowpoint cavity.

Alternate them in the magazine for red zombies and green zombies
Then I can have a Christmas party and invite both ... and sing Peter Paul and Mary songs
Red, Green ol' Rocky Road, tell me what you see ...

In addition to the color of the insert, the ones I bought had brass casings whereas the normal ones have steel casings.

The rifle versions look like the V-Max bullet with the core being green instead of red. The V-Max has that insert that cause the bullet to frag once it hits something. They're marketed as varmint rounds but I keep them in my EBR for other varmint purposes. I've also seen people praising them as good hog and small deer / game rounds as well.

I picked up a few boxes just for laughs. It's quality SD ammo, and only cost $19.99 for a box of 20 (.40 S&W). It's not replacing my CD or TAP ammo, but it's a great conversation topic when you pull a box out.

Actually, the regular CD ammo is in nickle-plated brass cases, not steel.

I had missed the fact the z-max ammo used plain brass.

A very good ballistics test in .45 ACP can be seen here:

.45 ACP ZOMBIE MAX Review and Ammo Test

On a side note, that guy has the best ballastics stuff on youtube, by far. Check his other videos out. :thumbs2:

I'm thinking about buying some to put in my In Case of Zombies display I'm going to build (with airsoft guns, not real ones!).
