Browning hipower 9mm chrome w/ gold trigger,hammer and controls.Excellent condition w/ one mag, no box. Made in Belgium assembled in PORTUGAL ( yep, bummer!!) seller is asking $595.00. OOPs it was manufactured in 1994. From a buyer's stand point is it a fair price,good price or bargain ?? My wife is thinking of buying it for me but she's gotten smart enough to check w/ me if the price and condition is right. What do you think ?? I not a Browning Hipower person but I have done a few research the last two days...Thanks for your thoughts!!

I'm not a hipower expert either, but it seems to me you should be able to get a used gun for less than that.

http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ See page 38 for some Belgian-made, blued 40 cal HiPowers for $400. Even if you don't decide to by a pistol from them they have some great deals on extra magazines.

Boy, I'd love to see pictures of that chrome HP. I've got a 1986 BHP 9mm high polish blue in excellent condition but you wouldn't get it for $595.00 if I were ever to even think of selling it. I believe I paid around $700.00 for mine new in 1986 but I may be wrong (that's been a year or two ago). Mine is stock and no where near as dressed out as this one sounds. The one on gunbroker is a 1977 and it is now up to $585.00. As with everything, it's all a matter of what you want and what you are willing to give. I know some people who wouldn't give you $200.00 for a BHP and have even heard some people who think that a .45 ACP 1911 (no matter whether it be a Kimber, Les Baer, or what have you) is only good for a door stop. My son wants a nickle plated 1911 like Samuel Jackson uses in the movie "Pulp Fiction". Although it's not my "cup of tea", to each his own.

The model you described shows a bluebook value of $425 for Exc condition and $350 for very good condition. The NIB price is $650. These prices are from the Standard Catalog of Firearms. I would try to dicker with him to come down on the price some.
