Are there any COLT qualified gunsmiths in Houston area?

Are there any gunsmiths in the Houston area that KNOW how to handle and APPRECIATE Colt revolvers?

I emphasized the words "Know" and "Appreciate" because while I know there are a lot of fine reputable gunsmiths in and around Houston, most of the ones I have encountered from Herman Mushkee (I may very well have spelled that wrong, I apologize if I did), who flat honestly refused to try to repair any of my Colts a few years ago because he thought it would be bad for business (I appreciated the honesty) to Briley (as well as several others) have good reputations and are popular with civilians and law enforcement. BUT, they do not understand Colts, nor do they know the means to obtain parts nor do they like the old colt design.

From talking to several gunsmiths online, I have learned to be VERY careful about who I let touch a Colt DA revolver. There are only 4 locations I know of besides Colt itself that can still work on them and they are all out of state.
I have a Detective Special with a loose cylinder latch that I wold like to tighten up. Seems like a minor repair, but even some the simplest things if in the wrong hands can be turned into disasters.

So before you answer this thread, don't answer with "gunsmith Peter Gun out of Grimes County who did an EXCELLENT job fixing the action on my dad's old Smith & Wesson M-15" or "We Do Guns Inc. off the Southwest Freeway that did a GREAT job sighting in my grandaddy's Remington 700 as well as lightning up the trigger on daddy's Ruger Security Six!" I don't even want "Sure, I'm Bobby Boomer I can do Colts, I think I have a few parts lying around in the back. Man I really hate those things. I don't know how Colt ever sold so many of those old type guns in the 20th century. Man those actions are so complicated that I've cursed at those horrible guns."

I want a genuine a Coltsmith who knows and appreciates the old Colt action and is an avid reader of Jerry Kuhnhusen's Colt Double Action Revolvers Vol. 1. (If there is such a man in Houston anymore

I'd hate to have to send this gun out of town, I'd like to see first if there is a Colt qualified smith around here first.

Talk to Teddy Jacobson in Sugarland. Phone number is 281-277-4008. Call after 10 a.m. Teddy is now semi-retired because of health issues. He is a tad cranky, plain spoken, and one of the best pistol smiths in the nation. The man is a perfectionist with outstanding skills. Your Colt will be in the best of hands.

BUT. Is he a Coltsmith? I sent my gun to Briley (A HIGHLY reputable gunsmithing company worldwide....and expensive too) right behind Town & Country on the north side of I-10 a few months ago. They told me things about my colt and told me how it should or could be fixed that should NEVER be done to a colt (or any revolver for that matter) according to old Coltsmiths over on the Colt forum. I quickly picked up my OP and sent it to Cylinder & Slide. The fact is, as good a reputation as they had, Briley was equipped for A LOT of things (I looked around their shop at their custom built 1911s and shotguns), but they were not Coltsmiths.
Has anyone here had any experience with Mr. Jacobson in regards to Colt action? Or talked to him on any level about Colts. What is his background in this area (Yes I could call him, but I'd rather hear the results from his customers)

right, latch is loose inside the plate. It's holding the cylinder fine, but it is so loose tha it's lower edge sometimes comes out into the cylinder rotation area a little and hangs on cartridge rims.

Yikes, that's just asking for a lesson in aggrevation and frustration. I think I'll save myself that and buy a month at Colt repair shop
