This is my first handgun. For more info see my last thread (
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=48318" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
This is a Ruger SR9C.
There are many like it.
But, this is my Ruger SR9C.
I promise to take care of it safely
I promise to become proficient in it's use by shooting many, many rounds downrange out of it
This may be my first handgun, but it shall not be my last
This Ruger SR9C will always have a special place in my gun bag
Woe be to any bad guys who try and take what belongs to me

Congrats on the SR9c, my wife and I both have one. Nice little pistol to shoot and accurate. If you take the magazine disconnect out of it, it will make a difference in the trigger. Did that on ours and even changed the trigger connector in one but could not tell any difference between guns after changing that out.

Good choice, I'm sure you will enjoy owning it. I've got a few hundred rounds through mine now, and just like my old Ruger P89, it has eaten every brand of ammo I've put into it. Congrats, and have a fun and safe time practicing.

Excellent choice...I carry the SR9C, keep a couple extras just in case, and recommend them to everybody. They are fantastic.

Congrats! I hope you have worked the kinks out. I also recommend removing the mag disconnect safety.
The only issues I have had with my SR9c have been a few stove pipes when shooting with my offhand and when my young daughter shot it in the beginning - so definitely a limp wrist-ing issue. And I haven;'t had any of those in last few hundred rounds.

Ok, so I have heard of limp wristing, but I had no idea what that meant. So, I went and looked it up and Wikipedia has a pretty good article about it. It is entirely possibly that all of the issues I had the first time I fired were because of limp wristing. I will definitely watch for that the next time I go shooting.
On another note, since I don't have a holster or a CHL yet, I have been placing the pistol in my waistband at the three o'clock position while taking it out to my car. I don't know if that is legal or not. But, I figured there has to be some way to get it to and from my car. And, I'm just getting myself ready for when I do acquire my CHL and a holster. I'm thinking either a Crossbreed Super Tuck or a Texas Tucker.

I carry with a Galco King Tuk for the Glock 19, fits like a glove. Super comfortable holster, I like it better than the Crossbreed. About $50 I think. If you get one made for a different gun, make sure to test fit at the store (using their display SR9C from the case)...The first holster I had fit perfect when I test fit it in the store, then wouldn't holster when loaded due to the chamber indicator on top, watch out for that.

I bought a Don Hume IWB made for the Sig P228/229. My SR9c fits in it just about perfect. Its a simple leather holster, reinforced around the top so it won't collapse and has a metal belt clip. It doesn't have any nice "features" like cant, for instance...but it was pretty cheap, 20-something bucks at a local gun store. I'd like to get another, better IWB in the future, but for now, it works pretty good. Oh, the model # is H715M No. 30-1.

Congratulations Rick and welcome to the "club". Like your adaptation of the "Rifleman's Creed".
