Dan Wesson revolver?

I recently acquired a stainless steel Dan Wesson revolver chambered in .357. It is a six shot cylinder with a fixed barrel and adjustable sights. The barrel length is 2 1/2" I believe. I cannot find the model number on it and was curious of that, but I can't find much info on any of the Dan Wesson models except the blued version with the interchangeable barrels which this one is not. Any forums or links are appreciated. I will try and get some pics up after I get it nice and clean or after I shoot it...I know if there are no pics it didn't happen

Dan Wesson revolvers for the most part were built like a battleship and very accurate.

The model numbers were all over the place. Most of the .357 Magnums were model 14 or 15. When they were stainless steel, a 7 was tacked in front. In other words, you might have a 715.

There were a few runs of custom revolvers for police agencies or private labels.

There were three incarnations of the company, two of which went out of business. The first was in Monson, Massachusetts, and are labeled as such. The second was in Palmer, Mass., and does not have such a sterling reputation. The third was in Norwich, New York. That company was bought by CZ-USA and continues in operation. They will work on any firearm with the Dan Wesson brand (though they are not running a charity, if you know what I mean).

Take the grips off and check under there for the serial number.

2.5 inch barrel on a .357 magnum, wow. I bet it kicks pretty good.

Just keep it at arms' length, or the blow-by between the cylinder and barrel will singe your eyebrows off.

TAM was kind enough to let me shoot his scandium-framed .357 snubby at the last DFW get together. I was surprised how mild the recoil was. I didn't think it was any worse than my 1911's.

I do understand he has some special loads that will water your eyes, though!

Funny thing is, not the same model the OPS was asking about, but a man was walking around at the Ft. Worth Gun Show yesterday with a Dan Wesson 357 for sale. It was an interchangeable barrel model...I didn't have the cash or I would have taken it off of his hands. It was in really good shape and my dad had a "Pistol Pack" when I was a kid and I hadn't seen one in many years. It was a GREAT shooting gun, VERY accurate...those Dan Wesson revolvers were quality.

Thank y'all for the information references. I'll look into some of the forums and dig up some info.

I have read that they are very hearty/durable wheel guns. Mine is a medium frame so I don't anticipate much recoil at all. I'm excited to shoot it in the next week or so.

I have a dan also. I like it quite a bit, and it has a pretty decent trigger.
however I only have the 4" barrel components and none of the rest of the interchange kit. due to the design and tension on inner barrel it shoots lights out. I dig it, esp the quirky plumb colored bluing on parts of it. Monson version for me.
interesting thing is there is no lock work in the grip area, just a stud for attaching the grip. Lends itself quite well to being able to custom shape the grips all you want w/o exposing the corners of frame in the grip.
