Learning to carry BUG...

Just wanted to shre something with y'all. Recently I got ahold of a couple of back up guns, a Bodyguard .380 and a Ruger LCP. Pocket carry is comfy and all, especially if I'm only carrying the BUG by itself. Most of the time I prefer to carry a G30, so I find it more convenient and comfy to carry the BUG crossdraw at 11, and primary of course goes IWB at 4. Anyone else carry their bug on the belt/waist? In the winter I suspect it will go to ankle carry or a coat pocket.

I carry my BUG (Taurus 85) in my left pants pocket. If I'm to carry anything left side cross draw it will be a second M&P 40. The Bug goes everywhere in the left pocket even when it's the only gun going with me.

Both of my BUGs go in pockets, I have thought about getting a IWB holster for them, but then I would need to lose weight to fit all the stuff I carry on my belt.

During hot weather, my BUG is my primary carry—carried in my strong side front pocket. The gun is either a Kahr PM9 or a S&W M&P340.....usually the Kahr.

During cooler weather, I just carry a larger gun with more capacity and I rarely ever carry a BUG. I just don't feel the need.

Haven't tried pocket carry... it takes me 5 seconds to get a phone or keys out of my pocket and that's an action I perform every day.

I throw a j frame in my boot a lot. It works well from a seated on the ground position, which is a likely position to be in if someone knocks you on your rear or is hitting you while you might be positioned laying on top of your primary.

How do you like the BG and the LCP comparatively? How's the recoil? I've been looking at them recently but never shot one.

...coupla old tips...when carrying in a jacket/coat pocket...balance the weight by carrying extra rounds/mags in the other pocket...keeps the gun from pulling your jacket all kittywhompus...much more comfortable, too...and when carrying on the belt under a jacket or coat...carry a clip or rounds in the pocket on the same side...does two things...keeps the coat from flying back and revealing so easily, and by a small motion of your hip,as you draw...the weight will pull the jacket out away from the gun, giving you faster access to a good grip and making your draw smoother...this one taught by Bill Jordan in No Second Place Winner, a book all who carry could benefit from reading...it's still available...teaches mindsets and techniques...from one who'd been there...

Hmm. I think I like the handing of the s&w a little better simply because the grip fits better, and the iron sights that come on it are pretty decent. Shooting with laser, the Ruger takes the came because the activTion switch is natural, you have to add an extra movement to activate the s&w laser. Recoil feels better out of the s&w. Looks go to the s&w as well. So at the end of the day I prefer the bodyguard, and that is nothing to really go on. They both fit the BUG role well, especially if your looking for something thin, light, and relatively effective.

I believe it is very wise to carry a 2nd or BUG.

You just have to find what works best for you.

As my CHL instructor said several times during the class, "One is none, two is one, and three is better".

It's why I have no problem spending the money for a kydex reinforced double layered gun belt from CompTac

I carry my Beretta in one of these http://www.wrbsales.com/products/99-poc ... sters.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in my front pocket. I would not carry a loose gun in my pocket or a gun that doesn't have a safety (IMHO).
