Too Nice To Carry?

#1

Post by doc540 »

Ever had one you just couldn't bring yourself to hammer on and carry?

I ended up selling this one when I finished dolling it up.

And I've been looking at some compact 1911's that I would hesitate to carry, but they're like the sirens luring me onto the rocks.

Are you kicking yourself now for doing it? Selling it, I mean? I would have loved to have a pistol like that.

Yeah, that is too nice to carry. I am not a "safe queen" type guy, but those old Colt revolvers are sentimental favorites of mine. That one is gorgeous and I would not want to get holster wear on it. Of course, if I had your talent for refinishing Colts, I might just carry and then refinish as needed! :coolgleamA:

They are beauties but oh those long gritty Colt triggers. I will take a Smith.

Only one, but it was never designed to be carried, a MDL27-3 commemorative, Image
it’s a safe queen I bought 20 years ago not really know why I bought it other than it was there and I was a young Soldier in Germany that spent all my free time shooting.

My Springfield commemorative from my last deployment is my daily carry gun. Image

The (Colt MDL 01091) commemorative we are buying this deployment will be a shooter for sure.

Is that your family crest on the top of the slide? Pretty neat.

Units crest for 2nd Battalion 5th CAV Regiment, 1st CAV DIV, Fort Hood Texas.

Springfield was great to work with.. the ONLY company that let the individual buyer of the Military group buy pick any model, any options, any text on the slide..

We paid a flat fee for the crest and 23 characters of text..Then great base price on the model we wanted.

Springfield pulled the guns from production sent them to the custom shop, and ran um though the engraver processes. It was a long wait , but worth it.

I turned a pretty gun into a commemorative. It was already too nice to carry , now it's just for show.
