Glock 26 AND Glcck 19 question ?

I have a Glock 19, and it has been "hands down"
the best gun I have ever had..
The Question I have, is I'm looking for another 9mm, and was thinking of the Glock 26, and someone tell me if it has more "kick" because of the small grip ? Or would you agree it handles the same?
I do Shoot IDPA, and would not use anything but my trusty G 19..
Is the Glock 26 easier to carry, I know I can not ankle holster a G19, .And was wondering it the G26 would do better..
And if you have carried IWB both Glocks can you give me pro and cons?
Any feedback on the Glock 26 and how you like it compared to the the Glcok 19 would be greatly appreciated, I do use the Hanks Gunleather IWB
thanks BAT

I have never tried to ankle holster anything, I cannot comment on that, just the generalities of carrying similar sized weapons

it will have a bit more kick.
Why? Because the gun is smaller, so it would make a bigger recoil using the same ammunition.
Depending how you are currently carrying your G19, you may find this easier to conceal or not.
if you have a good IWB Holster like a Crossbreed or Comptac, and you are carrying your G19, the G26 will be able to use the same holster and the only thing that you really are gaining is a shorter grip, so it would conceal slightly better.
But I have come to realize in my time with my Springfield XD9sc, which with the short mag, is essentially the same size as the G26, that if I dress properly, I can carry with my extended (16 round) magazine, which gives me the full grip, and about the same size the as the G19.
So if you are dressing properly, and using proper holster, oh and don't forget a good gun belt, you should not need to drop to a G26 from your G19.

I carry the 20 round mag and spacer in my Glock 26, so the grip is larger (longer), and the gun heavier (with ammo) than my Glock 19 ...
(Glock 17 mag with Pearce grip +3 extension model PG39)
I put on a blind marked Lone Wolf Extended (length of a 19) ported barrel on my 26 (not ported is ok too)
26 is easier to carry because the blocky slide is shorter than my Glock 19.... even with extended barrel & grip
I carry IWB. I'm not an ankle holster fan, tried them, disliked them. The only thing I'd ankle carry is a Seecamp, they are tiny. I owned 4 or 5 ankle holsters, never liked any, never wore any outside the house.... wasted money IMHO
--------
I experimented with mags, by adding +2 and +3 Pearce grips , a 10 round +2 +3; a 15 round +2 +3; and a 17 round +2 +3
Sometimes with a really thin shirt, I just carry the 15 +3 or 15 +2 or 15 round mag.... but that's really rare, I prefer 21 rounds ready to go (1 chambered too)
a +3 PG39 is about the size of a Factory Glock +2 base plate
A Pearce grip +2 is smaller than a Glock Factory +2 baseplate...

truefullly I have both a gen 2 19 and a gen 3 26. The 26 handles better has basicly the same felt recoil and oddly enugh more accurate for me . also the 26 doesnt poke me in the rib cage. Teh only thing that requires any getting used to is shooting with a pinky under the mag. That also has never been an issue for me, but a have seen a number of people complain about it.
I like my 26 enugh that im thinking about trading my 19 off for something else.... but for now its got nightstand duty.

I resemble that
I had a Glock 17 Long, a Glock 17, a Glock 19 and a Glock 26
The shorter the gun, the more accurate I was ... I sold the 17 and 17 Long... carry the 26 and the 19 stays home.

I think the double spring does a good job taming recoil in the 26 but felt recoil is a very personal thing. Rent one at a range and decide for yourself.
I don't notice a difference IWB behind the hipbone and the 26 is too big for pocket carry (for me) but I think it's a great size for a fanny pack or AIWB.

I've got a 34 (semi-long slide) and 26. The recoil in the 26 is noticiably more, but not by very much, than in the 34. WIth the Gold Dot Short Barrel +P's I carry, it's still more noticable, but not unpleasant. I'm more accurate with the 34 by a fair margin, which I attribute mostly to the longer sight radius and partially to the lighter trigger. The 26 is more than up to most people's definition of "combat accuracy" though. The dangling pinky bothered me for the first 50 rounds, then it ceased to be an issue.
I carry in a Southern Comfort IWB holster on either a bianchi or 511 belt (depending on the pants) and carry a full size magazine (a la 17/34) in either my weak hand pants pocket or in a mag carrier on my belt.
Interestingly, I had carried 1911's for several years. I had never shot a glock, nor had I any desire to. When I took my CHL course, I shot my full size 1911 which I had had for a few years. The next week I went to a first steps course with the wife. The instructor handed out Glock 19's for the class. However, he gave me a Glock 26 to use for the class as he ran out of the 19's and knew I was more experienced than anyone in the class (it was a first steps class
). I actually shot the Baby Glock better the first time I shot it than I shot my 1911 using the exact same course of fire.

I have both the G19 and G26.
I haven't noticed any recoil issues with the 26 and neither has my wife.
On the carry side, I do find it a little easier to conceal, but keep in mind it's still a double stack so it does stick out more when compared to single stack weapon.
Accuracy for me was improved considerably by using the mag with the extension that allows me to get all fingers in the game.
When carrying in a car, the shorter barrel is a little more comfortable for me (I carry it OWB at 4:00, same as the G19).

i've had the reverse happen to me. i tended to flinch when i had all fingers on with the pinky extension on my g26, although i am very accurate with my g19, and my g26 with the flat baseplate on the mag.

I have both a G26 and a G19.
The G26 is noticeably less accurate for me, but I can still get all rounds into a silouette at 10 yards regardless, so it should get the job done if needed.
No noticeable difference in felt recoil for me, although my wife notices more recoil with the 26, so probably only an issue if you are otherwise somewhat recoil sensitive (my wife also dislikes the recoil from my G19).
For me, the G26 is noticeably easier to conceal because of the shorter grip. I can bend over without any printing at all with the 26, but I get some printing if I bend over carrying the 19 under just a T-shirt. The 19 also prints if the wind blows my T-shirt against my body. The 26 doesnt extend past my hip, so there is really no printing concern. For this reason, the 26 is my EDC in the summer (now) and the 19 is my EDC when I can get away with wearing a light jacket.
I can pocket carry the 26 if I am wearing pants / shorts with BIG pockets. I wouldn't try to ankle carry a G26. A J-frame is the biggest I am comfortable with on my ankle.

If you can conceal the larger gun well, then carry the larger gun. I find the shorter grip makes for less control with my hand size. Good luck.

A number of years ago, I forget exactly when, I bought 4 Glocks at the same time. A G19 and G26, also the G27 and G23. I ended up keeping the G23. Gave the others to family members.
The issues in concealing a pistol are width of the pistol and the length of the grip, barrel length has little to do with it until you go over 4 ½ to 5 inches. I have large hands and thick fingers and on both the compacts and the midsized Glocks, I can only really get 2 fingers on the grip. On the 23 and 19 my little finger is resting half on the pistol grip and half on the magazine. On the compact 26 and 27, my little finger is either hanging off of the regular magazine base plate or on the middle of the extension that most people add.
The only real negative that I had with the compacts was the amount of muzzle blast with full powered ammo. Now that most ammunition companies are making rounds for short barrels that should be less of a problem.
I saw no real world difference in the accuracy potential going from the midsized to the compact. I think that most of the perceived increase in recoil that some people claim to see with compacts is really increased muzzle blast and slide velocity, the shorter the slide the faster it moves.
Depending on how you need to dress would be the determining factor for me. If you can wear shirts not tucked in or if you can wear a suit coat or Blazer, there would be no problem hiding either the G26 or G19.

I can't comment directly on the 19/26. I have a Gen3 22, 26, and a 27. The 22 is actually the least pleasant to shoot for me. I have average to largish hands. After 150-200 rounds I don't really want to shoot the 22 anymore. My wrist and right middle knuckle are usually sore by this point and every further trigger pull just results in more misery. I'm not sure why this happens, I can shoot hot .44, .357, and .45 all day and not usually have any soreness. Shooting the 27 on the other hand is much more enjoyable. I can run 300+ and still ready for more. I do use a Pierce +1 extension on the 27. I had attributed the decrease in abuse to the double stack recoil spring, but I'm not certain this is the only factor. Previously I've considered placing a stiffer spring in the 22 but a little hesitant to mess with the factory balance and risk a reliability issue in a otherwise great pistol. Accuracy wise, I can't appreciate a difference until getting out to 15+ yards. If I am shooting a pistol for that range, then I picked the wrong tool for the job.

I routinely carry either a 19 or 26 depending on dress. I enjoy shooting both equally and have never noticed any significant difference in recoil between the 2. Until this thread, I hadn't even considered that there *should* be recoil differences due to size.
Sometimes I actually think I shoot the 26 better. I don't use any grip extension or anything. I attribute to my better shooting of the 26 to the fact that I do not have as many fingers on the grip to pull or push the gun while mashing the trigger. I don't know if that's true, but it's my theory.
I do IDPA with my 19 and love it. In my mind, they're so close to each other that I think of them as almost the same gun. I only use the 19 more often for capacity sake.

Good analysis imho
I put the extended barrel (Lone Wolf) on the 26 so it's basically a 19 barrel anyway. solved muzzle blast with benefit of shorter blocky Glock slide
I like being able to choose 10/12/13/15/17/19/20 round mags ... for how I dress ... more choices with 26 than 19 by using the +2 +3 Pearce baseplates/extensions
