I don't know anything about them but you can find lots of info by searching on "high standard" here: http://forum.m1911.org/forums.php

Apparently, if it's stamped Armscor just in front of the trigger guard, you're GTG.

My son's got a High Standard Compact Crusader 1911 .45 APC that out shoots my Glock 36. Some would say that it's just my son out shooting me, but the truth be told, I shoot the HS better than the G36, too! I just don't like the cocked-n-locked carry that much.

It's a nice CCH (the compact model) for which BigPa (http://www.rockinbsleatherworks.info/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) makes a great Texas Tuck IWB holster for under $60 shipped. If you can find them new, they sell for between $450-$500 (plus tax & fees).

Example: http://www.ombexpress.com/p_HI001.aspx?source=160INGB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PS: I paid $500 for his new (with Hogue wrap-arounds) out the door...

Thanks for the info. Honestly, the best one I shoot with is my Glock 19. But I absolutely loved shooting my buds Colt Defender, thus the reason for my search for a 1911. That thing felt like magic in my hands... anyone want to just gift me a good 1911?

If I were looking for a first 1911, I'd be seriously considering the SR1911 that Ruger just released. It sells new for about $100 more than the gun you're looking at, for a pistol made in the US with a lot of features that you usually have to pay a lot more for.

I bought my High Standard Compact Crusader at the Conroe Gun Show for $460. I really like it, have shot about 150 rounds through it without a hiccup!! It is made by Armscor of the Phillipines for High Standard, a Houston, Texas Company. They still don't list the Compact Crusader on their website, but here is their info, http://www.highstandard.com/about-us.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I own one.... the CS model. It's made by Armscor (the same factory that makes Rock Island) in the Philippines. It's a sturdy weapon and has given me no problems with feeding ball or hollowpoints. I've put about 700 rounds through it; only 50 of them were factory-made. The only feeding problem I've had was with 230 gr. LRN (for these, I've found that I need to go to a very slightly shorter OAL). $450 was what I paid for it new.
