Kahr Arms Customer Service

I just bought a new Kahr PM9 and used P9 a few weeks back from my local gun store. Took them out a few days later to break in the PM9 and Test out the P9 to become comfortable with it.
The PM9 worked great. During the first 200rnds had only 2 Failures to Feed. The "dot the i" sights take a little to get use to and a little longer to become comfortable when you have traditionally only used 3 dot combat sights.
The P9 wasn't so great. Fired the first magazine and everything went smoothly. Ejected it and loaded a second magazine, fired the first round, tried to fire again, no round in the chamber. Loaded it again, fire, no reload. I got to looking at the gun and the magazine was dropping after each shot. I checked my grips to make sure I wasnt actuating the magazine release, I wasn't, and then fired again. Same thing.
I cleared the gun and got to looking at in on the tailgate of the truck at the property. The plastic magazine release has been worn out and was chipped on the side that holds in the magazine in place. Was irritated, but had heard good things about Kahr customer service
Got home late Saturday Night and didn't remember to email then, but Sunday night as I was getting ready to call it quits for the day I remembered to email
service@kahr.com. This was at 10:30pm Sunday night. At 8:15am Monday morning I got a response letting me know that they were sorry for the malfunction of my sidearm and would have the new parts in the mail that day.
Less than one Week later the new part arrived at my door with no cost to me. They actually sent me an upgraded blued steel magazine release/catch instead of the original composite one.
Kahr Arms got a big +1 in my books with week. Now only if their magazines always worked to catch on the empty mag, and load the first round every time.

I have also had good results with kahr cs. Email them about the mag follower and they'll send you a new one, I had the same ptoblem with my MK9. I had issues with a P45, I couldn't get through a full mag without it jamming. I sent it back to the factory twice at no cost to me. After that I just didn't feel comfortable carrying it and my dad wanted it so I swapped with him for a Colt officers. I decided the Colt was too pretty to carry all the time and get banged up so I picked up an M&P .45c witch is not ugly, but I don't worry about it getting character marks so much. I love the steel kahrs and still carry the MK9 someti mes it's been 100% ecept for the bad follower and is insanely accurate for such a tiny gun. Good luck with your new tools I hope they bring you years of enjoyment.

The follower on one of my PM40 magazines broke after about 1000 rounds. The clue was that the formerly very reliable gun suddenly failed to go into battery properly on almost every round. I had to disassemble the magazine to find the break, which was not visible with the magazine assembled. I called Kahr. Without hesitation they offered to send me another follower. Since I had another magazine of the same vintage, I asked for a second follower to replace that one since another failure was likely. They cheerfully sent that too. I count that as A1 service.

This is great info. I bought a PM9 around the first of March and have only put 300 rounds through it but it shoots great and feeds great. I'm glad to hear the support is strong. Thanks for the post.

JacksBack - Thanks for the good post. I would suggest that anyone owning this gun replace the composite [plastic] part with the steel part before it becomes a reliability issue.

The mag release seems to be a regular issue with Kahr.
My P40 covert release was "upgraded" twice.. first from polymer to steel/polymer then to a redesigned steel/polymer.
The original full polymer release sheared off after about 100 rounds and the magazine fell out with rounds still in it. The first steel/polymer part developed a crack and the magazine became "loose"..
Other than that, it was a nice shooter.
Kahr was happy to send replacement parts for free with a simple phone call.

Magazine issues or the return spring would be my first suspicions. You can call them, tell them what the gun is doing and they will offer up what they suspect and send you the parts to repair it. They will also offer to let you send it in and they will fix it. They will pay postage if you ask nice. They typically don't offer unless you ask or the weapon is fairly new. On my PM9 I had the exact issue as Excaliber mentioned above and it caused the exact problems he posted above. They mailed me a follower for each of my magazines... free as posted above. They are pretty good about trying to take care of problems.

After continued reading of this thread, I took a look at my Kahr magazines. The stops are metal or have a metal insert (I've not examined it with a magnifier; may do this today).
Like I said earlier, I've had it less than a month and I'm still breaking it in (for me that is 500+rounds). I did rent two Kahr's (a PM9 and a P9) prior to buying this one and had no problem with either.
With this new gun, I had initial FTF's but only a couple in the first couple of magazines. Since then I have had one after my second range trip and at about round 85; cleared it and kept shooting. I really like the gun.
I think it is feeding fine. It just hasn't had a problem since then but, like I said, I'm still running rounds through it to get it used to me and me used to it. I''ll bookmark this thread and update after the next range trip.

I bought a PM9 at the end of January and stocked up on 1300 rounds of different brands of fmj to see what it likes.
It likes anything I have put into it.
The one and only issue I have had is when using the supplied seven round extra magazine.
If you load all seven rounds in it the second round that cycles will fail to feed and is in a nose dive position.
Put six rounds in the magazine and it works perfectly fine.
Zero issues at all with the standard supplied six round magazine in 300 rounds.
Over at Kahrtalk several have also mentioned issues with the supplied extended seven round magazine.
Solution,ask Kahr for another standard six round magazine and send back the unreliable seven rounder.
I simply LOVE my PM9.
It is destined to be one of those guns you never part with.

Good info. I've not looked into Kahrtalk; sounds like a place to lurk for a bit.
I tend to alternate between the 7 round and 6 round mag. I'll full load the 7 on this week's range trip. My range habits for this gun are to put 5 rounds in each mag and to fire all 10 in a timeframe allowed by the range (not exceeding two seconds per shot). Then I stop, pick up the brass, and do it again. I am shooting 100 rounds per visit. I've only had mine since first of March and last week's range visit was devoted to shooting with my wife and her guns.
The PM9 replaces a G27 as my daily gun. I know its not that much smaller but it feels tiny IWB.
I love it too and since I've gotten rid of few of only a few of my guns in my life (and regretted every sale), I know this one will be in my estate inventory

Something to consider. The Kahr has been known to function best after about 500 rounds. That is a crazy amount for a break in period but true.

That's what I was told too. That's why I'm rather methodical when I take it to the range; making note of feed issues and saving the targets. First I run 5 rounds of my daily carry ammo though it then reload with white box Winchester and pound away. Its fun to shoot it and it really feeds well so far. The mag issue is now something to pay attention to.
I used to have a G26 several years ago so I've got 9mm dies but I didn't save any cases. I'm using the break in process to collect brass

The only Kahr problems I've had was a bad mag on a P45 (two others were fine), and I broke the keeper (end piece) on the captive recoil spring assembly on the PM9 after maybe 1000rds (all which Kahr quickly replaced). They have all functioned properly otherwise.

Try disassembling the magazine and check for a broken follower on the lower portion you can't see when the magazine is assembled. It causes the follower angle to change, which causes failures to feed properly.
