Steel case ammo
What that the pros and cons of shooting steel case ammo? I Have used it the past few times I'v been to the range and do notice my gun gets dirtier but I thoroughly clean it after every use. Are there and significant drawbacks to it? I have a Ruger P95 if it makes a difference.

Re: Steel case ammo
No real problems except some say it is hard on extractors. I do keep an eye on my extractors so far after a couple of thousand 9mm, a thousand or so .40 and .45 and 2500 rounds of .223 downrange and no ill effects. I clean and inspect the gun after each range session and have spare parts on hand.

Re: Steel case ammo
Here in the Houston area most ranges only allow brass case ammo. I also have the P95DC and the thing I would watch, if I were shooting much steel, would be the barrel loading guide looking for any nicks or wear.

I would make the last round out of each magazine a brasas cartridge. The brass helps keep the chamber cleaner by pulling the coating for the steel cases out with it. This allows you to shoot longer without pulling a head off.

Guns are like parachutes, if your ever in a situation that you need one and you dont have one, you'll probably never need one again.
