Check out this robbery video.
I think there are some things we can learn from this video. Once again it reminds me to always be aware.

I saw that on the news. The owner said he didn't suspect anything unusual and didn't see it coming.

Re: Check out this robbery video.
Those guys would have had the drop on most people. If you were carrying, and even suspected them, getting your draw out in time would have been very difficult. The 3 on 1 doesn't help either.
Then the bad guys go right to searching the store owner's body. Had he been carrying and not drawn, he would have lost his gun then too. Scary stuff.
I keep watching wondering how I would handle this in their shoes. I'm pretty sure my hand would have been very close to my gun. If I was the good guy on the right, I know I would have when those two thugs came in and 'acted' like they were shopping or doing business.
As the owner guy though, it would have been hard to while trying to 'do business' at the same time.

Re: Check out this robbery video.
Just a few observations:
--When the male in the white shirt--that was sitting down--pulled out his weapon, he had to put one in the chamber. When he racked the slide, I did not see a bullet expelled.
--Also, in the few frames that you can see him pointing the gun, it does not appear his finger is on the bang switch.
--At around 5:30, the dirt-bag in the red shirt has a gun is his left hand. He also does not have his finger on the trigger.
Are the punks starting to wise up about firearm 'safety'?

Re: Check out this robbery video.
I am surprised at the excellent quality of this video. I am sure that they will arrest the third suspect quickly.
I am glad of the outcome, that the owner/employee were not shot. It would be hard to think of a tactical scenario where the GG could have pulled out a gun and stopped the armed robbery without getting shot.

Re: Check out this robbery video.
I hope that third would be caaught. It is ridiculous to deny the ID of one of the robber with this hi quality video and 2 witnesses. Give them life with no parole. If they cooperate and rat the third robber, Given them 90 yrs and possible parole at age of 65.
Man those criminals are so agressive and maybe idiots at the same time. No masks and spent like 7 mins in the store with Hi Q Video running and I think at one time the owner was sayiing leave video is running... he even looks at the camera. The owner should had either security measures or panic button to call 911.
It was really tough to defend against 3 Bguys. I think the best in this case to have either an armed employee who is sitting in the back of the store or, limit the access to the store and have real counter where the owner can retreat. Also, at one time the owner was very close to the exit doo and may had a chance to leave and call for help.

Re: Check out this robbery video.
I gotta say that I am VERY impressed with their trigger discipline....
That being said, I don't think anyone in their right mind would've tried for the quick draw in that situation. Those guys were pros....
It was a no win. If you drew and went for it you were for sure going to get hosed without having some sort of cover.
I can't for the life of me find the link on the Calccw forum but there is a story there, from the guy involved, about being held at gun point by a madman. I'll summarize...
Some weirdo goes to an indoor range in Santa Clarita, CA. and rents a gun. He waits till around closing, after everyone else has left, and then takes the 3 employees hostage with his rented gun. 2 of the employees had disarmed early to get in the hazmat suits to clean the range but the 3rd still had his Glock 30 on him. Despite being armed and even after the guy had taken a wild shot at the female co-worker he said he never had a realistic chance of drawing and firing for quite some time. He finally got his chance some 30 minutes later when the psycho forced them outside and got ahead of them while going down an alley. He drew and got off 2 shots while the psycho squeezed off 2 wild shots that missed. The range guy hit him once in the right nipple and one went the length of his arm from wrist to elbow. The crazy guy survived but police found a note in his truck that spelled out exactly what he had in mind. He was going to kill the 3 range employees and go for suicide by cop. I think the post might be members only but I'll look for it.
Moral...Just because you're armed doesn't guarantee anything and pick your battles wisely....
Oh yeah I forgot to mention...the police recovered both bullets the range guy shot. They were hydra-shoks. He stated that they both went all the way through and neither one expanded....

I might have tried. Not because I think I'm Quick Draw McGraw but because I might think it's my only chance to survive.olafpfj wrote:That being said, I don't think anyone in their right mind would've tried for the quick draw in that situation. Those guys were pros....
It was broad daylight. They weren't wearing masks. They're obviously not afraid that I'll ID them to the cops. Why not? The most reasonable answer is they don't plan to leave any witnesses alive. If I think they're going to execute me after I cooperate, what do I have to lose by fighting back?

Re: Check out this robbery video.
I'm surprised they let 3 guys in at once. Usually places like this have controlled entry via mag lock door or gate. The owner is lucky he or his employee weren't killed.

That video was on San Antonio news last night too, though it occurred in Houston, apparently still looking for red shirt guy.
