It's not training but WHIDPA will hold this type of competition at IMPACT ZONE
this Saturday 1-8-11. Me and some of the PSC boys will be there.

I feel a little intimidating for new shooter going to shooting match directly. :-(

I had that same thought process when I first started thinking about going to matches. I told friends of mine I would go with them and "watch" one before actually competing. All of them said if I did that I would regret it because it wasnt as hard as I was thinking. I decided to go compete instead of watching and had a blast. I didn't place well AT ALL in that competition but I got realtime experience in that particular format, learned a lot, and really just had a blast!!! New shooter or not, give it a try and go to have fun!!! It will turn out to be a great day of shooting!!!!
Just my opinion, FWIW!

I have heard the same thing a few times now...I still have not gone to a match. I want to but work every Saturday and have a hard time making it out there on a Sunday. That is one of my goals/resolutions for 2011 attend a few matches and improve my long range rifle shooting skills.

We (WHIDPA) run a multi-gun match the 2nd Saturday of the month at the Impactzone (near Monaville).
We get new shooters all the time. The only expectation is that you are safe with your gun handling and shooting.
We will give new shooters a "mentor" for their first match to answer questions, explan what is going on, etc.
As others have said, just do it.
