Discussion at work

My boss is kind of an interesting character, we have many discussions ranging from why he thinks God doesn't exist to stock market and investment strategy.

I was reading some self defense stories today on the TSRA page and commenting on some. He brought an interesting comment.

He said that if someone shot a member of his family, regardless of circumstance he would come after the shooter, and thier family - as vengence. Now, I think he is halfway playing devils advocate, but what do you all think about revenge for SD shootings?

He sounds like more of a antagonistic know-it-all to me. Sorry you have to work for a guy like that.

Sounds like he's blowing smoke. The only good that's gonna do him is to make sure he joins his fallen brethren.

First off, lots of people say what they think, instead of what their going to do. So he's probably full of hot air...

But even so, the fact that he would even think about coming after somebodies family that had nothing to do with the situation... regardless of the circumstance... says to me he's one sick person. There are lots of em out there.

So he's appointing himself Judge, Jury, and Executioner, in any case where a member of his family is commiting a crime that a reasonable person would feel the need to defend themself from. Interesting attitude.

Hey...I resent that. I'm an Aggie...I believe God DOES exist...and I have no intention of hunting down some man's family because he killed my "whatever" in self defense.

Gig 'Em!! :D

To answer the original question....if he doesn't believe in God then it doesn't really matter what he does here on earth anyway. But, gunning down someone's family in order to get revenge is just flat out wrong.....and illegal.

Braden - I too am an aggie. Class of '04 (its well hidden by my screenname). I appreciate the responses.

I think for me, if I felt that a family member would try to take revenge I would load all my best friends into my house for a couple of weeks in the night times and "stand guard." Then make sure my fam (when I have one) is up to speed on self defense tacticts, both armed and unarmed.

Anyone else know how they would handle that concern?

I'd let the dogs in, lock the doors and arm the alarm system just like I do every other night. Just for good measure...I might move the Remington 870 from the closet to the bedside. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to protect your family 24/7. Being alert and prepared is your best bet.

They have very advanced video camera systems these days. Digital recorders, that will also alert you when there's motion on camera (the pixels change).

The camera alert can give you a good heads up on the perimeter.

A relative of mine has a set of cameras with an alert system. One day he heard it beep, looked at the security monitor, and saw some guy breaking into his van!!!

He went out, saw the guy, guy saw him, realized it wasn't a good idea to confront a car theif without a weapon, went back into his house, called the police.

Police show up, ask if my relative has a description of the car thief. Shows the police the video tape. Police say "Yeah, we've got him in the back of the cruiser" and ask for a copy of the video. Case closed.
