Online gun sales/buying

I have seen some websites that sell firearms online. Most are auction type, I was wondering how this works. I'm assuming you have to find a local FFL dealer to ship to? Also - if anyone can reccommend a site that would be great! Or if you have a story of an online purchase I'd love to hear about your experience with it. I'm looking for a used kimber, and could use some direction.

I have bought only one gun on an Internet auction. It was an S&W 586 I bought on Gunbroker.com and the transaction went fine. That said, I've read a few horror stories lately and I probably won't do it again, at least no time soon. With the big Houston Gun Collector's gun show coming up later this month, I'll wait until then to buy anything.

Regards,
Chas.

what about selling/trading at a show. Is this adviseable?

Online Firearms Purchases

I have bought eight or nine pistols online without an issue. There are rip-offs, but the sites generally offer sdvice and if you follow it your purchase will be painless. I actually prefer to buy on-line'cause you can save enough on tax on a premium firearm to pay for the firearms transfer and then some. If you have a friend with a FFL, even mucho better.

I have never bought at a show. A freind does quite a bit. From what I have seen, bring cash, and often some folks walking around have good buys if you are looking for what they are selling, luck in this case. Most sellers at shows are very inflated. They are there for those who think they are getting a good deal. I get my best deals from a couple of pawn shop owners. I tell them what I am looking for, and they call if someone down on their luck stumbles in. Good luck.

i bought 3 off the internet from the same guy. really good to deal with.

remember two things: make sure whoever you are buying from has good, quick communication. call them or email them. you should get a response not later than a day. ask for a phone number and ask a question (make one up if you don't have one). anyone legitimate should not be concerned with providing a contact phone number.

second, do a quick search on the internet for usernames. i've done searches on usernames and if they're a thug, someone somewhere will likely post up that they are and it'll save you a headache.

you'll find stuff like this searching around.
