My range bag that I've had for a few years has started to slowly die - the metal zipper pulls keep breaking in half. The bag was originally purchased from Galls, who didn't have a response beyond "Sorry" when I called to ask if this is a problem that others have had. All things will eventually wear out, but I'd rather have something that will stand up to normal wear and tear.

The bag that I currently have is the Galls RangePro Plus Bag. It is a little on the large side, but that works out well for me, as I am usually carrying multiple sets of eye and ear protection.

I'm currently looking at a few options: Midway, 5.11, and Maxpedition.

MidwayUSA has a MidwayUSA Competition Range Bag that is appealing based upon the reviews online, as well as the price.

5.11 has a 5.11 Range Ready Bag that looks like it could fill the role well, and would be durable enough.

Maxpedition has a Maxpedition Multi Purpose Bag that looks interesting to me - I just can't tell how well it would act as a range bag for me. I think I would either really love it, or really regret buying it.

Those are the ones that I've been comparing. I'd rather not spend a ton of money, but want something that will be durable over time. Does anyone have experience with any of these, or suggestions for others to consider?

I have always liked Bagmaster. Expensive but nice.
I had a small one I lost to IKE, and replaced it with a large one similar to this:

I have the MidwayUSA Competition Range Bag. It holds everything well. But I have so much in it when i go to the range I can hardly carry it

I have a Shooters Connection bag and really like it. http://shootersconnectionstore.com/Shoo ... -P555.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's a big bag and you can put a lot of stuff in it. The bad thing is, you can put a lot of stuff in it.

I also have a Dillion bag http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/conten ... _Range_Bag" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's smaller than the Shooters Connection bag but with the same general features. I don't use it much anymore since I always carry a lot of gear for students.

The Academy Sports bag is probably the best bag for the money. It's almost as big as the Shooters Connection bag. (Sorry, no link.)

My favorite range bag isn't really a range bag, at all. It is a Dunn's clay carrying bag. It's exceptionally sturdy, padded on the bottom and the handles, and not so big that I can put more in it than I can carry. I think I got it for $5 on closeout at Cabela's.

Thanks, lots of great options that I hadn't considered! I can see this will be a more difficult decision than I anticipated.

I have a Midway regular and the competition bag. Both are good and are holding up well. The brass collector from the competition bag gave out after about a dozen trips though.. I need to contact Midway to see what they will say.

I have the 5.11 Range Ready bag and really like it. Bought from a guy on TX Gun Talk Forum who thought it would be too heavy when fully loaded. After getting tired of making multiple trips from the truck to the pistol bay during each range visit, I wanted something that could hold it all and the Range Ready can. When rifle shooting, I remove the carry tote in the center compartment and fit a front rest, back rest, spotting scope, and small tripod in there with ammo! Plenty of pockets for pistols, tools, cleaning supplies, etc as well as a dedicated magazine pocket. I am not sure that I would have paid full price for it, but I got a very good deal and am happy with the 5.11 Range Ready bag.

I dont know how big you want to go but here is a good value for a small bag that should be just fine for a trip to the range.

I also found this one on clearance too. I personally own this and its my EDC duty bag for work and I love it! Been using it for over 18mo and no complaints yet. I was bigger than I thought it'd be when I opened it for the first time. This would deffinitly make one nice range bag.

I use a 5.11 bail out bag.I usually take one or two AR15's and maybe one to three handguns with me to the range and most ammo and handguns fit in the
bail out bag pretty nice.I wrap my handguns up in a old small towel.I have the brown bag.Just $46 here....

My range bag is huge, but it can carry everything under the sun. It is really well made, and all of the zippers are really good quality. There is enough padding and tie down straps to protect everything.

loaded with a few handguns, shotgun, and an AR along with ammo for everything....well yeah...its a bit heavy. I have the backpack strap for it to make it more packable. Upside is, I always have everything I could ever need.

I have had 511 tactical stuff also. it is well made.
