Fenix lights?

Anyone use Fenix lights? I bought a Fenix E20 for my father in law and I am really impressed. He was still using the big yellow flashlights at Home Depot that use small car batteries so he was floored that a mini-maglite sized flashlight could produce so much light. I have two Surefires (G4 and Executive) that I thought were bright, but the Fenix blows them out of the water. Plus, my Surefires take CR123 batteries and the Fenix E20 takes AA. I have a ton of CR123 batteries but they are bulky, expensive, and harder to find. AND, the Fenix E20 only cost me $30 shipped from Sportsmansguide (member pricing + $10 coupon). Needless to say, I have ordered myself one and looks like the Surefires will get put on the shelf for awhle.

Anyone else use these lights?

My 220-lumen Fenix PD20 is my EDC light. Amazing brightness out of a tiny package about the size of a 12-gauge shotshell. Runs off a single CR123A battery. Only owned it about two months now, but that single 3V cell is still running strong so far.

Quality 123 batteries can be found for $1-1.50 each. I last bought a 100pk for $108 with free shipping, sold quite a few to coworkers at cost. I'll post some links later....

Lowes hardware sells SF for $4.97 a 2pk. Not a good price, but if you need them in a hurry, it'll be cheaper than while doing your wallywalk. They have $10 off $50 coupons that you get with many items, would take a bit off the sting if you HAD to buy locally.

I bought my 123A's from Surefire at $21/12. I did that after seeing Frys selling individual 123A for $9.99!!

I've got a Fenix PD30+ and love it. 235 lumens, 6 settings (including strobe), lightweight, clip-on, great battery life... what's not to like?

I've been thinking about getting another so I can have one for EDC and one by the bedside.

I bought a Fenix PD30 R4 a couple of months ago, and carried it daily since. No complaints.

Well, the only place you can get CR123s for less than $4 would be online. Whenever the zombies or next Katrina hits, you won't be able to order them online. But you can probably loot your neighbor or nearest Walmart and find AAs. I guess if you loot the camera shop you might find a bunch of CR123s.

The reason I got my father in law the E20 (AA model) is because he won't buy the CR123 batteries at $4 and he doesn't know how to order stuff online.

I won a EagleTac T10C2 from a flashlight fan website and still use it just about every day. I carried it on duty when I was doing my armed security gig and it worked just about as well as anything. I would get a couple months use out of a pair of batteries, would still work on low power so I saved them in pairs to be used in other low power lights.


They make several AA powered light that are slim and very carry-able, would consider them if I were in need of a china-light (EagleTac/Fenix/etc).


What I will likely buy next time if a Malkoff drop in for some of my lights. I have the old Brinkmanns that were a very close match to the P60-powered surefire lights, only I preferred the Brinkmann's feel for bad weather (rubber grip).

The Fenix P1 is an awesome little light. About the size of your thumb, single CR123 and bright as heck.
