WWB 9mm @ Wal-Mart

FYI,
Mon. 8/28/06 I went by W-M, the WWB 9mm has gone from $4.63/50 rds. to $7.17.
If you find any for $4.63, better grab it.
The only ammo that has not had a price increase or TWO(Remington) is Blazer Brass.
So, how does this reloading stuff work? I have to save the empty brass?
I bought a golf club, might have to learn a new hobby.

I saw that yesterday. It's a bummer but I suppose it was just a matter of time.

This is really unfortunate...like many of you, I shoot multiple boxes of this stuff every month. The price increase takes away every bit of the value. I understand inflation, but a price increase that big will prevent me from buying any ammo from wal-mart. I stopped buying groceries there about a year ago and have been VERY HAPPY with the change.....hopefully good will come of this for me. Take care.

I went to three different ones last weekend in search of cheap ammo and could find none. The guy at the counter said I guess it is all going up because of increased demand right now.

OverEasy,
Yes, just pick up as much of your spent brass as you can find, take it home, and save it. No hurry.
Look around (ebay is good, even though a lot of people despise their "anti-gun" policies - they restrict sales of "high capacity" magazines and "assault"-style weapons, but not "ordinary" gun-related stuff) for a press. There are many good ones out there, from Lee (inexpensive but functional) to Dillon. I'm partial to old Dillon 450 presses because they can be bought cheap, since most people want a 550 (faster to change calibers).
It is doubtful you will save much money reloading, but you will get to shoot more for about the same expenditure. Check out the Reloading section of the Forum, have fun!

Andrew

That's a huge price hike!

I guess I won't be buying anything from there anymore because ammos and DVDs are all I've been buying. I can buy DVDs cheaper online.
OverEasy. I've currently purchased a Dillon XL650, and I'm very impressed with the built quality. I haven't put it to good use yet because I don't have any powder, primers or bullets yet to set all the dies in. This will be my main generator of .45ACPs.
I've also invested in a Lee 4 Turret Press and am surprised at how easy the installation was. The only thing I didn't like was spending $16 on nuts and bolts to put the thing on my bench. Other than that, it's a cheap press that can be had for under $80. Die sets are another $30, and you can also buy extra turrets so you don't have to undo the dies each time you change calibers. This press will be doing the remainder of all others I shoot (9mm, .223, .308, etc...)

Academy still has the 9mm CCI Blazer Aluminum for $4.96/box. That's what I've been shooting for the last 1000 or so. It was so hard to catch my Walmart with WWB in stock.

The Academy in League City is asking over $7.00 a box as of last week. I could not believe it and had another employee scan the box. I was still in denial so I stopped by later that day after the employees had changed shifts and confirmed the rise in price

I guess it varies from region to region. I was having a hard time justifying buying reloading equipment because I almost exclusively shoot 9mm.....I am starting to reconsider.

Just got back from Academy on Edgebrook. They are selling these Monarchs which are in green boxes for $5.86 / 50 9mms. It's no $4.86, but it's better than $7.17 a box. They are brass ammo so they are reloadable.

If I were you I would, I stopped by and bought a case of CCI blazer 9mm a while ago. The total came up to $107 out the door. I am going to buy another case soon. I am going to stock up on my 9mm before the price go up. I shoot at least 600 rounds of 9mm per month, so the price increase really really sucks.

Price just went up here in Plano too. Luckily I got my 2000 rounds before that happened. And I just got Academy to accept a price match!!! Figures.
I don't mind Blazer, but it's dirty.........The 100 round range packs of WWB are still about $12ish here. They're the best thing going now...at least here.

Well, at the 7.17 a box of 50, it is now cheaper to load your own compared to WWB. Here's my comparison:

For comparison to the old 4.63 price:
Old Price
Hmm, so I guess I need to start researching the 550B....

I was able to snag 10 boxes of CCI Blazer Aluminum from Academy at $4.96 a box. My buddy got the last four boxes. I'll try the other store near me tomorrow.
