New Gen 4 Glock

Hey all, I have a question about my new Generation 4 Glock 17 I bought at the gun show yesterday. I noticed there were two different kinds.

Like the one I got:

And this one:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GJl7qVSLlY4/S ... +gen+4.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does anyone know the difference?

Of course I noticed the grip is a little finer in one, the notches in the back of the slide are curved in one, and one says "Gen 4" on it, but are there any more differences? Why are there two different ones??

Sorry if this has already been asked, I could not find it anywhere.

The first Glock is a Generation 4. While the second Glock is what they call the RTF (Rough Texture Frame).

That is interesting, the tag on the rtf guns at the booth I bought mine at said Gen 4 on them as well. So the RTF are Gen 3 then, correct?

I believe they still count them as Gen 3 or maybe a Gen 3.5. The back strap on the RTF does not change. It is just like the Gen 3, but with the RTF. I know that the rough texture causes you to wear a whole in your shirt if you are not careful.

the first gun is gen 4 22. the 2nd gun is a RTF2 frame gen3. the regular gen 3 is RTF (rough texture frame), the RTF2 is the second pic but is still a gen3, and the "fish gill" rear slide serrations was an early model of the RTF2 frame, but no longer used.

It is interisting how you search for Generation 4 and you see both Gen 4 and rtf guns.

There is a big difference between Gen4 and RTF Glocks, particularly in slide and recoil spring design. Easiest way to tell is to look at the model number on the slide -- it will be followed with the word "Gen4". Gen4's also have interchangeable backstraps.

Get what feels best to you though -- Gen3, RTF, Gen4, doesn't matter, they're still Glocks and have same quality to them.

the recoil spring assy are different for the gen4, they are all two stage like the subcompacts already were. the slide on the current rtf2 Gen3 and the Gen 4 Glocks are the same, visually and internally. the early rtf2 gen3's had the wierd looking "fish gills", but Glock dropped that.

All gen3's are rtf (no "2") frames. The frame every body thought was the 4th gen is rtf2, but was still gen3.
