IWB or OWB? I'm sure this has been beat to death but I'm trying to figure out which way to go. I was looking at the Crossbreed super tuck or a Blackhawk serpa. Just looking for some pros and cons.

Thanks guys

either one or both, depending on clothing for the day, the gun I want to carry on a particular day, etc. Might as well throw a shoulder rig in too. Can't have too many options

I guess that would depend on whether your talking about a P-32 or a Coonan 357.

Like most everyone else you will buy at least one of each style. My holsters outnumber my gun count by 2:1

True I guess I should have said that my CHL gun is a H&K USP 40c.

Here's my experience with both...I carry a Springfield XD40sc

I started with OWB and it was very comfortable.
The only drawback is I found the need to wear a cover garment
in the form of a slightly over sized shirt such as a button up.

Then I bought a Crossbreed Supertuck.
It is just as comfortable and holds the gun very close to the body.
I find that I can wear (normal) size shirts without a problem.

If you go with IWB, you may need to go up one size in pants.

Either way you go, a good dedicated gun belt is essential.

I use both , got my g27
I use a Don Hume belt holster and I just ordered a Cross Breed Super Tuck for it too
I had a Don Hume IWB holster but I wore it under belt over pants and it was perfect ( only problem I had was it put holes in my shirt )

Once you get the Crossbreed, you may only use one. ;-)

OWB for me. IWB never felt comfortable to me, plus I did not like buying paints 1or 2 sizes larger. :smilelol5:

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck for my Springfield XDm .40S&W. I love it! I just got my plastic this week, and yesterday I spent all day wearing the Supertuck and it was absolutely comfortable. I was literally on the go all day, and it was very comfortable and didn't print at all.

I just bought a new Kimber 1911, so I'll probably be ordering a Supertuck for it too.

You could always get one of the Littlebear IWB/OWB holsters, took a long while to work in, but its great now.

I'm currently wearing a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC IWB. I don't have my plastic yet so its empty but thought I would try some different holsters for a few days and see how they feel while I'm in my normal routine and waiting. I have to say that except for the fact that I normally wear my cellphone on the right hip (its now moved to the other side) and the interference with the seatbelt (holster moved back just slightly now), its not even noticeable.

I happened to run into an employee at a completely different function and we got to compare Crossbreed, Comp-Tac and Tucker all standing there. So he brought me an MTAC to try out and see if I like it. If so, I'll buy it. And right now...its just as comfortable as the Tucker and more so than the Crossbreed. The Tucker is much finer construction details but its twice the price (with all the options...gotta get ALL the options!).

Still going to put a week into it before deciding.

The vast majority of the time I carry a full size 1911. For me, OWB in a Fobus paddle holster is the most comfortable, but I have to wear a jacket or a tac-vest to cover. Shoulder holster in a galco rig is a close second in comfort, but once again, I have to wear a jacket for cover. Third place comfort wise for me is the crossbreed super tuck. I never forget I am wearing a big, heavy gun in the super tuck, but it is highly concealable so if it is too hot for a jacket and a vest in not appropriate, this is the only choice. Like the others have said, you need several holsters depending on what you are going to wear, but if you can only get one, I would get the crossbreed IWB. Less comfort for me, but a rig I can wear anywhere all year long.

Ditto! Plus, I went progressively from large frame revolvers and Glocks, compact Glock, to Kimbers, to Walther, to an airlite Smith 360PD. Fits anywhere and gets carried (a lot).
