So I was fortunate enough to attend the SHOT shot for a few days. That place is a serious firearms overload. Anyway, I saw one product that I thought everyone might want to take a look at for concealed carry. The website is: http://www.ccwbreakaways.com. Basically, these are dress pants/khaki's that have a "break away" pocket opening. The pocket opening is held to the pants with snaps. The snaps are located such that they would be covered by a standard belt. The pocket is not a standard pocket though. It has an internal mechanism for fitting and holding any size handgun. I suggest checking the website for a better explanation of this.

The pants are perfectly normal looking and appear to be of high quality. They don't have that "tactical" look, which is nice if you want to remain inconspicuous. The will also soon be available in jeans (the jeans are shown on their site, but I was told they are not quite ready yet). They are currently selling to individuals, but are working on distribution channels. I am planning to buy a pair this week, once they have a chance to get back and settled from the show.

Anyone have any thoughts about these?

Yes Dave I have a thought. I WANT A COUPLE OF PAIRS! Those look fantastic! Just like alllll the pants I wear....Dockers.

The cargo pants look great too. Jeans don't do much for me, but I've not seen it in person, obviously.

I think I'd like to get a pair and try them out. I thought the web site was very well done. The only downside I can see is that I'd have to move my wallet from left front pocket to rear pocket. I stopped wearing it there many years ago - far too many hours in airplanes.

BTW - the web site kind of draws you to the videos section where you can see the system in action. I found the FAQ and "How To" section more useful.

I'm glad they came out with the shirt.... I've been planning something similar for the last 5 years or so (never took the time to make my own personal prototype). My idea was to sew a couple of "dummy buttons" in place, and put velcro under the button locations... using either a light weight shoulder holster or the 5.11 holster tee shirt underneath. The only difference (other than the side slot for use with a tuckable IWB) in their design is they use snaps instead of velcro.

I like the concept, but not only does the web site leave a lot to be desired, it is also deceptive and misleading. I watched the parts of the video were they demo the gun being drawn from concealment and those snap studs are already open! Its not a realistic demo of how one might fumble to unclip those buttons in a single motion. I'm sure with practice you could become comfortable with it, but I have to ask myself why the demonstrator was unable to do it . . .

I like the look of these. If you get a pair then please post a write up.

the shirt is very similar the one from 5.11, I have one and it's great.

I saw the snaps undone too. Any way you cut it this is still pocket carry & draw setting is virtually impossible. Extreemly easy to stall the pocket draw. I can see some possible applications like the smart carry or tuckables. I will wait on the reviews from the CC on the street rather than the advertisers.

When I first read this post I was expecting some kind of warm-up pants that athletes would wear and rip off to start the game and I was really having a hard time wrapping my imagination around how that would have helped me in a carry situation at all.

I noticed in the "Parking lot scenario" video the actor catches his pistol on the pocket slightly. This is when he's practiced and rehearsed that move, I can't imagine how difficult it could be with adrenaline pumping and possibly from a sitting position.

Bottom line: If it works for you, great, but I probably won't purchase these even if they have good reviews, just doesn't look like they'd behave to my carry preferences.

I didn't ask about the price. I told the rep in their booth that I was not a retailer, but she was still very generous taking the time to talk to me and show me how they are constructed. I'm going to contact them on Monday. I'll post the the retail price as soon as I know (as long as I get their permission to do so).

I noticed in the "Parking lot scenario" that the actor runs out into the open rather than taking cover behind the vehicle .
