I am looking at a 1.5" belt tapered to 1.25" for my #3 son who carries a G17 on OWB holster. http://www.thebeltman.net/bullhide.htm

Has anyone used a tapered belt? Presently he wears jeans extensively but must wear suits on occasion. He is very slender and carries at about 3 oclock.

What about this company? I think I got the URL from this site several months ago. Used any other styles?

Would you recommend stiffener for the G17?

Im wearing a beltman belt right now. It is 1.5" withought the stiffner not tapered. Would suggest tapered on a female or small male. The stiffner would be goog if he is a 40-50" belt size.

Also make sure you measure the right way or your belt will be way off.
Go from tip of standard belt buckle to hole you use daily with all tools on.

+1 for what spud said. His gear looks good & many use it. I have a tapered belt, different brand. I am 56 & just a little tummy. Setting long at a computer w/ my old untapered belt began to pinch at the buckle. I really like the taper for desk work days.
If I was younger & the job was not a desk, I would not spend the difference in price. The tapper does not weaken the belt strength, quality, or efficency. It does make a dressier belt. Slim like you say, don't spend the money on the stiffner. I have heard many say that it is way too stiff & especially going in a tight circle around a slim waste.
My 2cents & some think it worth about half that.

I have always had my belts made. I started having my gun rigs buit for work. Then I have been forunate enough to find a leather man to build mine. I am an EXTR EXTRA large man. I wear a 60. I have always had my belts doubled with leather. I have been using one belt that is about 15 years old. Double leather just does not wear out. I just had one build about 8 months ago and the cost was $48.00. Good luck. Good holster; good belt; makes carrying a lot easier

He ain't joking either. When I first met him I had to get on a box just to shake hands w/ him. He said he used to work under cover when in LE. Only reason I don't believe it is there aint no cover big enough for him to get plumb under. Have a great day tomorrow my friend.

Hey Carlson1, Where did you find someone to make a good belt for $48, especially in large sizes? I haven't found anyone to make one under $100 in the larger (50) sizes.

The Boot and Shoe Repair in Old Downtown Irving. A couple doors down from the Drug Store. He will take the order and make it in the same week.

I've used a belt from Rafter S Gunleather and love it. It's 1 1/2" and tapers to 1 1/4". I've found that it's great for my little overhang when bending over. Being that your son is more slender, he'd probably do fine with a 1 1/2 or 1 1/4" belt. I'd go for 1 1/4" as most belt loops are kinda snug with my belt. Here's a pic of my custom shark belt/holster rig.....very nice and at about $80 for the belt, the price can't be beat for custom work. I did pick up a Galco 1 1/4" today for about $50ish and like it as well...all depends on what you want to do for him.

Will a 1.5" belt fit through the loops of most suit pants? My thick 1.5" will go through jeans, but I don't think it'd go through most slacks or suit pant loops.

If the pants are a western cut they will most likely accept the 1.75 belt. I have never seen a western cut suit that would not accept a 1.5" belt. If they are contemporary city business suit they may not. Many of those only accept a 1.25"
