Problems with new SW40VE

#1

Post by SW40VE »

I recently purchased an SW40VE from the local Academy. I finally took it out for its first rounds today. The first few clips were great. Trigger is very heavy on this gun but I think I will get used to it.

The problem I am having, however, is that once I got to my 5th or 6th clip of ammo, the trigger started acting funny. Maybe 1 out of every 4 or 5 shots, I could not pull the trigger. It felt like it went from 10-12 pounds to like 50 pounds to pull it. I would release, pull again and it would fire like normal most of the time. Sometimes, I would pull and release several times before it would go back to normal. It almost feels like something is blocking the trigger from squeezing all of the way.

I fired about 150 rounds in it today, and I have a blister on my finger from this problem. I can rule out fatigue of my hand, because I had my buddy try it and it did the same thing. Does anyone know what the problem might be or where I can begin to explore? I have never taken the gun completely apart, only the slide. Thanks for any input!

A welcome & no answers from here, but I am not one of the gunsmiths either. Hope someone has a good idea. If not there has just been a good post on the good service dept. from S&W. That is good if you have to have it, but still bad that you need it.

Had the same problem with mine. Found the trigger pin was bent. Returned it to S&W and they fixed it. By the way, The pin was drifting out somewhat in the beginning and I think that may have caused it to bend.
