Can anybody recomend a good OWB holster for a 1911 ?? I know there are 100's out there but i amlooking for one that is thin and comfortable, no't bulky, and will hold the gun in tight !!
I have a small tube around my belly! and i want to wear t-shirts or golf shirts without letting everyone know i'm carring or looking like i am wearing a poncho.
Is there such a thing because the 4 i have bought so far don't seem to work

Thanks Guys

I often carry a full size 1911 with a Galco Royal Deluxe holster and have never had anyone notice. It is a pricey holster but worth it to me. The Galco Combat Master would be my second choice and it costs about half the Deluxe price.

This is my Smith PD in an Axiom holster. It is very comfortable and it rides close.

Check out holsters and accessories. The one by Carlson, a great holster resource. A ton of selection.

Since you didn't mention the ones you bought that don't work, I'll just throw out these:

Comp-Tac CTAC or Minotaur or Infidel

I use the first with a CZ compact 9 and the other two with a Kimber Pro Carry.

If you've already tried them, ignore everything I said.

I also have the "tube" problem, but either gun conceals well when worn at 4 o'clock, with a slightly loose T-shirt or polo shirt or button-down shirt.

David Bullard http://www.dmbullardleather.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; he has great holsters for the 1911 and his prices are not out of the world. His customer service is the best also.

Looked up DMBullard leather and they looked pretty nice but does anyone have any experience with them ? What makes their fit any different than Galco's or others out there ?? Or all most all brands going to fit and conceal about the same ??

I have 3 of Davids holsters, he will replace them if anything happens to them. They are well worth the money. If you go with his holsters you will be happy.

I'll second Carlson's recommendation. I've got a knock-off of the the Axiom and it works very well.

+1 for both Milt Sparks and DM Bullard holsters. I have both and like the Sparks slightly better, I think it uses slightly thinner leather. I like the Dual Carry from Bullard for it's versatility. I've got 2 of Bullards holsters and 2 Milt Sparks. My Bullards are not for a 1911 but I would expect the 1911 holsters he makes would be every bit as good. Both are top quality. You'll get one from David about 10 times faster than Sparks, if that matters, and it'll be less expensive.

Hard to beat Galco holsters for their quality, price and availability.
Get their catalog and purchase a few to try.

Like the rest of us, you will have a box full of holsters before you actually find one that meets your needs and requirements. :txflag:

I carry my Hi-Power (same profile as the 1911, leather holsters are interoperable) OWB in a Galco Combat Master. I've had mine for over 2 years now and have been quite happy with it. It is a high-riding canted open-top holster, and it conceals well because of these features. It's also accessible while seated in the driver's seat of a car with a console because the height at which the gun rides.

Here's a couple of photos of me wearing mine:

Don't rule out IWB. I sometimes carry a full size Kimber in an CompTac Infidel. Very concealable.

Not a 1911..But have a Springfield XD .45 ( 5" / tactical) Big gun to carry all day, especially compared to my Kahr CW40.
I have afew balistic holsters for the Big Daddy XD, but they are alittle flimsy.
Even with all the sweating, I finally decided to buy a good, solid, quality leather holster, to carry him around in.
Monday I rode down to Cabela's and finally picked up the Galco Sil 446 holster. ( $64.95 ) Fits tha' 1911 & Springfields XDs.
I really like this holster. It does print more than my CW40 under my T-shirts ... but... it carries very well and feels good.
Good luck in your selection ! :txflag:
