I'm posting here because a) I don't know where everyone posts range reports, and b) this section gets the most traffic.

I bought a Kahr CW9 at the Pasadena gun show yesterday. It's a cheaper version of the P9, with a polymer frame. It's the smallest 9mm I've ever owned, yet large enough to get my big paw on it. They make a smaller one (PW9), which is an awesome pocket gun. The P9/CW9 seems to have more reliability, and the CW9 is about $120 cheaper than either.

Prior to the range, all I did was shoot just a little Break Free on the rail, so it wouldn't be dry. I brought a few different kinds of ammo: S&B 115gr, Remington 115gr, Corbon DPX 115gr, and Corbon Pow'rball 100gr. I shot 2 boxes of S&B, 1 box of Remington, and 8 rounds each of the high-dollar stuff. The very first round had a FTE, a semi-stove pipe. Uh oh, I thought, but I know these things happen. I shot the remainder of my rounds without a hitch, including my wife shooting about 30 rounds of the ammo. This thing, despite it's small size, is a pleasure to shoot. With all rounds, it shot a little low left, and it wasn't me pulling them. We're talking 1 to 2" both ways. Even at 15 yards, I could put 'em in a 2" hole if I took my time, meaning 3-4 seconds between shots. For my final 40 rounds, I shot 5 rounds at a time, with about 3 seconds between shots, at 10 yards into a single target (pictured). It's no bullseye gun, but it's a sweet shooter, and a pleasure to carry. I could not be happier with my first outing!

Thanks for the report on the less-expensive version. Good to hear yours ran as advertised. I've had a "Lady K-9" (out of production) for around 8 years and PM-9 for at least 2. No probs with either after break-in.

One of my students recently paid $700+ for their "new" .45ACP. It is also quite accurate but the trigger would not re-set about 40% of the time. It took 3 trips back to the factory over the first month, but Kahr eventually made the re-set prob right with whole new upper. Now if the slide would just lock back consistently after the last shot ...

Congrats, and nice pistol!

I've owned several Kahr pistols and they've all been reliable once broken in (and sometimes w/ a part replacement).

Just saw July 2006 issue of NRA's "Woman's Outlook". A nice article there on the CW9.

With Kel-Tec's new 9 on the way, probably a good thing for Kahr to have a less expensive version ...

If it weren't for their reliability issues overall, I would have bought the P11. It holds 10 (or 12 with option mag) versus the 7 of the Kahr, and was about $160 cheaper. But, the Kahr is skinnier and has a LOT better trigger, and not as many reports of problems. I ordered a Milt Sparks Watch Six from Lightning Arms for it today.
