DALLAS, Texas (AP) -- A Navy chief petty officer home on leave from the Middle East was shot and killed by a carjacker three days before he was to report back for duty.

Kameron Pratt, 34, was parked in the driveway of his parents' home in Dallas on Friday night when two men in a pickup pulled up next to his.

One man, wielding a gun, ordered Pratt out of his truck before shooting him and stealing the vehicle, police Sgt. Gil Cerda said Saturday.

Pratt stumbled to the porch. His brother found him semiconscious, dialed 911 and performed CPR, but he died at a hospital.

No arrests had been made, authorities said.

Pratt, scheduled to return to duty after minor shoulder surgery, was in the midst of his fourth overseas tour of duty in four years.

He would have completed his active-duty assignment in October, relatives said. Pratt had hoped to get a college degree, teach social studies and coach sports. He is survived by a 9-month-old daughter.

I would like to do something else, but I wouldn't like my statements held against me since this is a public board.

I do rest assured that eventually they will meet the Supreme Judge where the evildoers will review their life.

This kind of stuff is really making me want to become a police officer. I have toiled with the idea for several years but have never acted on it.

I absolutely despise people that commit horrible acts like this.

Being a "police officer" (in this particular case) means you'd get to write the "report". Not so sure that would be of any help.

Like you, I am disgusted with criminals that have no regard for human life. If you really want to help, become a "prosecutor", and be deaf to the words "plea bargain".

People like that make me sick, as do judges that let them off with light sentences.
