Three Officers Shot In Stanton Heights
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ―
Pittsburgh police say a man opened fire on officers responding to a domestic call Saturday morning, injuring at least four of them, some seriously, before barricading himself in the home.
Police spokeswoman Diane Richard says the officers were called to the home on Fairfield Street in the Stanton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh at about 7 a.m.
She says police are unable to reach one of the wounded officers since the area has not yet been secured.
She declined comment on the extent of the officers' injuries.
Richard says a family member is believed to be with the gunman in the home.
State, county and city police are at the scene along with a SWAT team and a state police helicopter.
Richard said police negotiators were trying to persuade the gunman to surrender.

Sadly, I believe we are going to see more and more of this in the coming days/months.

Anyone else notice the increased frequency of these reports making the National news? You think it is really happening more often or just getting reported more often? Why is that? It couldn't be supporting someone's agenda, could it?

You ask the million dollar question...
I believe this forum catches a lot of incidents like this because we care more about the victims of a murderer like this, than the details (however inacurately they are always portrayed by the main stream media) and the calls for more gun-control (dispite its resounding failure every single time) by the usual suspects...
But I think you forgot your "/sarcasm" BD...

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking as soon as I saw this story on CNN.

Oh great...

Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting isn't clear, but friends said the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Yes they are and will continue to actively try to convince people of the opinions they share with the anti-gun politicians and groups. That is why we have to continue to educate one person at a time. Our smiling faces and patient endurance will beat the Medias bias. Combine that with the new media and we stand a chance....if we are willing to spend the time and money necessary. We can meet their challenges now or we can wait and do nothing and eventually lose even more ground.
Can't find any ammo? Well, that money can do a world of good in the hands of our pro-2A organizations. Every time the establishment media vomits their lies and propaganda is one more opportunity for us to remember to make another donation or call or to write an e-mail or letter. This is how we fight and this is how we relieve the frustration we feel when the media uses their position to promote their anti-civil rights agenda. We would not allow them to do this to our freedom of speech or to worship what god we choose or to deny a person their right to vote because of their sex or race. We should not allow one unfounded attack on our basic civil liberty to include our right to keep and bear arms.

A better question would be - "What is it with all the senseless killings in the headlines lately?"
Unfortunately, senseless killings happen. Always have, probably always will. Sometimes it's individuals doing it (as in the US). When individuals had over their freedom to governments in exchange for promises of security, then its the government doing it (see Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc...).
If the press put every traffic accident on the headlines, people would be scared to death of cars. Same goes for drownings in swimming pools, shark attacks, lightning strikes, fires, etc...Newspapers are sold when the headlines scare people. Senseless killings scare people becase they are so....senseless.

I can answer the part of the question concerning headlines. Simply put, bad news sells papers and TV time.
I don't know why people are shooting other people; especially, LEO's on a domestic violence call and why were the LEO's taken by surprise? Perhaps new protocol should be adapted for response to domestic violence calls. Somebody here knows a lot more than I about these situations...and maybe everything else.

This particular brand of bad news also helps push an agenda.

Interesting that when I read news reports about fatal tragic car accidents involving drunken driving, irresponsible drivers, etc., I never see anything in the article about concerns over the availability or restriction of automobiles. Especially since driving is legally a privilege whereas bearing arms is a right.
