Sig's P250

#1

Post by flynbenny »

Any P250 shooters here?
Just got my P250 today, a .40 compact with the night sights. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the case and found not just one, or two, but three 'normal' capacity magazines with it. For $600 including tax, I'm pretty thrilled. I'm a Glock die-hard, but this thing feels better in my hands. Not to mention the fact that I don't 'need' to have the three different guns for their size differences, and the fact that I can change the caliber pretty easy. The gun was also completely intuitive to diassemble, no need to pull the trigger to do that. Oh and did I mention you don't have to pull the slide every time when you are doing dry fire? :fire I won't be able to shoot it for a week or so due to my schedule, but I'm getting this queasy feeling that my Austrian poly-framed wonder pistols may have met their match. So my question is, does anyone here have one of these, and know what ammo it likes/hates and how reliable it is?

I've got the P250 in 9mm, with the .40 cal conversion kit.

Haven't found anything yet that it wouldn't eat. It's more accurate than I am, & I haven't had a jam or misfire from it yet. I've been carrying mine since they first came out, almost a year and a half ago.

It's the only polymer-framed pistol I own. I think you'll have fun with it. :thumbs2:

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Holster from Safariland is on the way, does anyone know what mag pouches (other than the nylon generic kind) work for it?

I purchsaed my set-up from TT Gun Leather, it works very well and is extremly comfortable. There is a bit of a wait time, but worth it.

A friend of mine of who is an FFL dealer got it for me from a distributor, and it was the last one they had as of a month ago. Unfortunately for you he only does business with people he knows. But you can check Academy, I've seen a couple of P250 compact 40's and 9's there, and if you want to pay an arm and a leg, or your firstborn, DFW Gun Range over by DAL usually has a couple.

Range Report: I've put about 250rds thru it now, the first 100 had a lot of hiccups. I took the gun home, and cleaned all the grease out, and relubricated with a quality oil. 150rds later not a single stoppage. I've let a couple different folks shoot it too, they've all liked it, especially the ergonomics. I'm going to take it to a class next month where I'll be shooting 800+ rounds. It will be a great test of the gun's reliability. A sig armorer I know says I should probably clean it midway through the class  , but my square black pistols never need that kind of babying! :biggrinjester:
Got the holster in Friday, I'll post a picture later today.

Thanks, I found a used one today at Marksman range for $559, Marksman has better prices than academy, $589 vs $660
They buy directly from Sig and keep their markup reasonable. I am now the proud owner of a P250 in 9mm and 40

Well, maybe not. I shot 600 rounds in a class and about 200 on various range visits, and it's very reliable and accurate. During the class, the gun malfunctioned twice (failure to go into battery and one double feed), this was around the 500 rd mark (and it was raining all day) so oil took care of the problem. I like this gun, heck I'd bet my life on it. But it still comes up short, I like how the Glock gets the axis of the bore much closer to my hand, and yeah I kinda like the Glock trigger better. My verdict: It's a fabulous firearm, but I'm sticking with my little square austrian friends. :smash: Some guys like Fords, some like Chevys, some Glock, some Sig I guess.
Oh and that means the P250 is for sale now...

flybenny, you must've happened upon a law-enforcement gun. For one thing, I know of no commercial Sigs which come with THREE mags. Second, the P250 HAS NEVER shippped commercially with a spare. Now, ALL commercial Sigs are being shorted their extra mag {one ONLY now}, ostensibly to fill LE back-orders.

You did GREAT! & in related news.....

SIG SAUER, the leading manufacturer of military, law enforcement,
government agency and commercial firearms, will resume shipping all
standard commercial pistols with two magazines. SIG SAUER suppliers
increased production to meet the heightened consumer demand, thus
allowing SIG SAUER to resume shipping two magazines with every
commercial handgun. Previously, SIG SAUER had announced effective
March 20, 2009, that all standard commercial pistols would ship with a
single magazine. Models that included more than two magazines were not
affected. Shipments to distributors and dealers with the two magazines
in each pistol will commence immediately.
