Well, I am sorta cheating... my "membership to the club" card is in the mail but I figure that's close enough to be proud... :)

Thanks!

Close enough for forum signature, just don't take a chance by carrying until the plastic is in place. Gotta admit I did the same thing for a very short time when I knew it was in the mail.

Thanks for info.

Thanks for reminding me. I used to go there occasionally when I was active in Real Estate sales. It's a good site.

Holy crap! I just checked out the difference between my location (Leander) and the small town that I will be visiting this summer (Guntersville, AL). Leander came out at about a 50 (half the national crime average) and Guntersville came out at almost a 300 (3 times the national average). Sounds like I REALLY need to get that NH license and keep my safety blanket with me if I am going to be heading to a place with 6 times the crime I am used to.

For some reason, it will tell to it can't find web site. Scroll down to "web Results" then to "Gray beard outdoors-index" (gray beard forum) & try again. It should work.

The great thing about Leander (and Cedar Park) is that even though they have been swallowed up by Austin, there still remains a small town atmosphere where neighbors look out for each other. Both of those small towns (and Liberty Hill) are great places to live.

Thanks for posting that link. I compared San Antonio to Blanco (where my wife and I hope to be moving to in about a year) and liked what I saw. Zero robberies, rapes, and homicides with a crime index of 26. Factoring in Blanco's population they had 3 vehicle thefts, which is great to me since my car was recently stolen (and thankfully recovered).
