Finally got a holster and mag carriers for my Glock 19. So.... I'm considering going my first local IDPA match on 5/14 (
http://www.texastactical.net/matches/schedule.asp).
I'm wondering if anybody would also be interested in going. I live in north Austin, and maybe we can meet up and practice at Red's.
(BTW, I have extra nylon mag carriers. They are not fast, but they work pretty well. I've been using them for steel challenge.)

j1132s,
As you can tell I live in RR and would like to try IDPA. Unfortunately this weekend is mothers day and my wife has other plans. Specificaly me cooking, cleaning, pampering,
........you get the picture. The next couple of dates look ok to me. Maybe we can meet up and try it out. Send me a email at

Mother's day! I forgot about it. We actually have made reservations for dinner that day and I completely forgot about it.
Probably not a good day for me to go too. We can try the next IDPA.

Just let me know when you want to put some holes in some paper people at Reds. I have a new to me Sig P226 9mm I need to make sure goes bang. Plus my S&W .45 needs some exercise too.

FYI:
Below is a news item on the Texas Tactical (see 1st port for web site).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5/9/2006 IDPA Match Sunday Mothers Day IRON MIKE
We will be holding an IDPA Match on May 14th Mothers Day. MOMS SHOOT FREE!! Come on out and bring the whole family!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I won't be able to go and my mom doesn't shoot. But if you know a mom who's into this sort of thing, she can shoot for free. This range is between Austin and San Antonio. (See web site in 1st posting).

I actually had plans to head out there with my father in law last weekend, but it was rained out. I don't think I will be able to make it this weekend though I will be back there again - the question is when.

Is there anything happening at the Eagle Peak Shooting Range in Leander?? That would be a lot closer to us. I'm in Georgetown, north of Austin.

Eagle Peak doesn't do anything like that, but there is a spot in Temple that does...

Hi,
Looks like I'll be able to go this coming Sunday (5/21) if everything goes well.
I'm planning to go to Red's to practice Wednesday and Friday at ~7PM. If you'd like to meet, I'll be the Asian guy (very likely in shorts), wearing prescription glasses and shooting a Glock G19. I usually only shoot for about 10 minutes. Let me know and we can coordinate a time (email
j1132s@yahoo.com).
If everything goes well, I'll be at the IDPA match, most likely I'll be carrying a folding chair and _no_ range bag (that should set me very apart). Hopefully I won't look too lost and confused, but if anyone does, that's probably me.

Oh,
I'm open to trying out other ranges in the Autin area too. I've never shot anywhere besides Red's Indoor in Pflugerville.
I hear that there's a range in Manor that allows you draw, but I've not had a chance to go there yet.
