Ranger TX gun show

Hi all,

Well first I want to thank those who have welcomed me to the board here, thanky very much :)

About me: I'm a commercial bullet caster who just moved out of Kalifornia to Ranger Texas. Buddy and I live here in a huge steel building in which the RV is parked and the shop is set up. We can put out about 12,000 bullets a day under ideal circumstances, meaning if Buddy doesn't hassle me for attention. (Buddy is my wolf hybrid partner.)

Our website is undergoing renovation, and when that's done I'll post the link. I'm a Garand freak, and dearly love the feel of an M1 cycling my handloaded ammo. I don't buy commercial ammo at all for any of my guns.

My shop is set up around Magma Engineering equipment, and I have a very extensive reloading bench, 5 presses and all the other goodies that go with them, including a couple of power case trimmers.

My dream for some time now has been to have a Barrett M82, for which I have the loading press in hopeful expectation.

Buddy and I did the gun show here in greater metropolitan Ranger today, and we did surprisingly well for as small a show as it is. Not only did I sell bullets, I made some very good contacts. I met the guy who does the CHL classes here, Buck, and he's a very good guy, and I also met a fella who's opening a gun store and wanted to know if I will do wholesale to him.

Oh gee, let me, think..... uh... okay...

Sales weren't fantastic, but that wasn't the reason I did the show. I did it to meet my new gun-totin neighbors, and let them know what I do and where I am, and in this regard the show was a resounding success.

I didn't get to sell off that Lee Enfield, but I did cut a deal to trade off my Ruger 10/22 and Single six for a .30-30 lever gun, just which one I'm not sure yet, but three of the exhibitors there are interested and I'm taking those guns in tomorrow.

I can't lose on the deal, I got those guns for free :)

Oh I LOVE Texas!

I was broken into and robbed in Kalifornia twice, by the meth freaks who moved in across the street from me, and the cops did nothing but take the report and eat another donut. There was nothing I could do either, in Kalifornia, but here in Texas there is, and we all know what that is.

Welcome to the forum Amy. Sounds like you had a really good day. I talked w/ Amy earlier this week by phone & liked what I heard. I have 2000 rds of her bullets ordered & will post my thoughts on them when they arrive. Prices are very good I think & I believe the bullets will be also. I am glad to see another lady on the forum. Welcome aboard & keep us posted on how the business is going. GIVE US A ZIP CODE FOR RANGER PLEASE SO WE CAN SEND IN AN ORDER.

Cast only, or jacketed stuff too? There's a real need for someone to duplicate GP11 bullets for reloading 7.5 Swiss. The Berger VLD comes close, but isn't an exact match.
I didn't get to sell off that Lee Enfield
*perk!* Whatcha got? I'm an Enfield collector, so I'm always interested. PM me with the details, if you'd like.

Welcome to Texas, and welcome to the forum!

Well no, FMJ's are very expensive to get into making.

Welcome to Texas, Amy !

I was thinking about going to the gun show in Ranger today, but got lazy instead..........

Might go over tomorrow, I live north of Abilene.

Would you classify it as a 'good' show in terms of vendors and what was for sale, etc. ? I like browsing and looking for old S&W snubbies.

Well, it was good for me in terms of sales and new contacts, buit it's a small show, so what can I say? if you are looking for a cheap SKS those , are there, and if you want a shotgun or a 686 .357 there are a couple, and there are some decent leverguns....

Thanks for the info, Amy.

Too many shotguns, not into lever guns too much and my revolver collection already includes a 686 357. Oh well.

Guess you just saved me some gas !!
