It would be fun to get some forum members together, get our holsters, and load up with an airsoft war. We could even find some facility to host it maybe...idunno...random thought but I thought it would be fun.

I'm in. Could really use the force-on-force experience.

Sounds interesting. Not much range on airsofts though.

Maybe it would be useful to act out common "deadly force" situations like car jackings and home invasions. See if you're able to stop the attacker before he stops you.

You can use them in other ways too.
I have owned 3 air-soft pistols for several years (2 HK's and a 1911). I use them most often for demonstrating "action beats reaction". Its also a fairly safe way to show what can happen if you leave your finger on the trigger when reholstering. They can be used in retention and take away drills (if you don't get too rough with them). Tueller drills are good with air-softs.
Raw beginners seem to feel more at ease with them when first learning proper grip, sight alignment, mag changes, etc...
The plastic BB's sting a little when striking bare skin (or even close fitting garments), otherwise its hard to tell you've been hit. Paintballs on the other hand.. WILL get your attention.
But, anything you can do to simulate real life scenarios is time well spent.
If you guys put together a "shoot" let us know how it turned out and what you learned from it.

Yes - but airsoft is much more realistic to me. I was on a tourney paintball team for a good while and there is not much realistic about it.
I have been lit up with an airsoft gun and it hurt even with layered clothes.
That may have been a freak thing though...idunno much about them other than that.

Obviously I'm not talking about "paintball tactics", but.. the fact that when struck with a paintball (in ordinary street clothes) you will definitely know it, the same is not always true of airsoft. Like I said before, they sting if you get hit on bare skin or have on tight fitting clothing. Layered clothing helps, but something loose fitting is best IMO.
If anyone else thought I was comparing paintball tactics to airsoft scenarios...then lets dispel with that.
Play around with them a little, be sure to wear GOOD eye protection...and don't purposely aim at anyone's head or neck.
Have fun.
