Just bought a Sig 229 .40 S&w .. ( HV, your friend Big D is a great guy!) and I love the way it shots. I like it so much that I'm thinking of having it re-blued( sp)..It's got some minor holster wear and a small scratch on the right side of the trigger guard. Does anybody have an idea how much that would cost and a good place to go?? Pardon me but I'm a real greeen horn with guns/repair. I think I got infected with a very serious gun buying disease and I think I got it from hanging around this forum!! Well, this weekend I was planning to acquire a higher caliber hand gun ( I have a G26 and a G17)..I saw an ad for a sig 229 and a G 23.. Can't really decide what to buy so, with the permission of my loving wife, I ended up buying both!! Took both guns to the range and found out that I like them both!! I thought that being a 9mm shooter I would find the recoil of the 40 cal. to be a lot snappier but not really...Since I'm already familiar with the trigger pull of the Glock, the G23 feels very comfortable to shoot. The Sig is very fine gun too.. I took a few rounds to get used to it's S/A..Sorry for the long post.. Just excited!!

Congrats on your 229! It's a great pistol to be sure. (I have one too)
The 229 isn't actually blued. It's what Sig calls a "Nitron" finish. As far as I know, knowbody local can duplicate that. I suggest giving Sigarms a call in the morning and see what they say. I know they do repairs and refinishing themselves but shipping a handgun is pretty expensive so cost might get a bit unruly.

Thanks for the quick reply,HV.. I won't be surpised if you know the 229 I bought from Big D. Got it the same day you had lunch with him..Anyway, I can live with the minor scratch but I will try to give Sigarms a call in the morning..Hope to buy a gun from you one day... Maybe something 1911!!! Geezzz, I need to see a doctor about this addiction!!

No, but I can tell you that I have had nothing but great work done by these two companies

http://www.robarguns.com/DesktopDefault.aspx (their NP3 is simply AWSOME)

http://www.trippresearch.com/ (their hard chrome is the best)

a little scratch on a 229..........ah, remember the slogan!
Sig.....To hell and back reliability :reddevil It sounds like you got a gun with a story behind it. That said, I think I will go wipe mine off with a diaper
Congrats on a great gun...sounds like you got mixed up with some great company to purchase it from. Take care.

Alpine is in the western mountains. About 175 miles west-southwest of Odessa.
Nice little town..

call and get a quote, they are good people. You need to read about the NP3... I never even lube my pistol anymore, AT ALL, and she is smooth as butter.
