When I go Fishing ,I place mine in Ziploc baggie, and force all the air out and its worked well. the last trip to the Coast I placed a small float in the baggie incase it fell over into the water.

I tryed it first in the sink and it worked well.

I'm going rafting in a few months and am trying to figure out a good way to carry and not get my weapons wet if at all possible. I have a Kel-Tec 3AT, a G27 and small revolver, so I have a few choices. I have heard about water resistant fanny packs, but we all know they scream gun! I plan on wearing a shirt and shorts.

Does anyone have any experience or ideas in this area?

Take the Glock and don't sweat it. As someone else said, "I never heard a fanny pack scream". No one will give it a second look. The sheeple are too involved in their own lives.....

Yep, even Shamu cannot defeat a ziplock bag. However, be warned that if you are soaked to the skin, printing is a problem.

I guide groups on overnight canoe/kayak trips and always carry two guns. One is a .38 revolver that I carry in a pouch on the front of a small cooler that straps to the front of my kayak. I keep that gun loaded with rat-shot for the occasional snake that won't go away. The other is my carry gun, usually a Kel-Tec or a Glock. Before going, I clean and oil them well. If they get wet (and they will, at the very least, get damp), then a good wipe-down will suffice while on the river. Dry, clean, and re-oil if necessary when the trip is over.

First trip of the season comes up in a couple of weeks............

when i go boating, i put my pistol in a sock inside my shoe, then tie my shoe up so the gun won't fall out. i usually have a sock and a shoe on hand.

I have a stainless taurus snubby .357 that has been various places where it was submerged in fresh and salt water, sometimes for several hours at a time, without any ziplock bag, or waterproof anything. It has however had a VERY thorough cleaning and oiling before and after any of these trips and it hasnt harmed it in the least. The only blemishes on the gun are a few scratches from various knocks it has recieved here and there. Clean it very well and keep it oiled and you should be ok.
