Belt

Ok my current belts are not cutting it for work. Everytime I carry in IWB my back hurts, and I believe it is because of my belt not being strong enough. I have looked at the High Noon Rock Steady belts, but have not looked much elsewhere. I will probably buy a black one to start since that is what I wear most of the time. Any suggestions? What do you guys have?

If you were having some custom leather made by Sparks, Alessi, etc., I'd say get the belt from the holster maker. Cost a little more but would all match and fit perfectly. FYI- all my holsters (leather and kydex) fit the Belt Man's belts.

I am also having the same problem as you... I am interested in seeing some answers and recommendations.

I carry tucked-in with dress pants, which are really light, which makes a belt even more vital compared to wearing jeans.

I have one of these belts have worn it pretty much every day since February, and it has held up beautifully. I would definitely buy another one, and Dave Bullard is a really nice guy. I recommend him to anybody who is looking for a belt or holster.

I have gun belts from 3 makers that I'll rate according to my preference:

1. KD Holsters
2. Gunner's Alley
3. Beltman

The KD belt is the finest in detail and is very thick and stiff. The Gunner's Alley belt is just as thick and stiff (which I like), just simpler. The GA was also cheaper than the other two, and it arrived in just 3 weeks. The Beltman belts (I have two) were a disappointment. I regret saying that, as they are good folks to deal with and the belts are nicely made. But they're thinner and more flexible than the other two brands. That made me wish I'd ordered them with the optional stiffeners. Top heavy gun/holster combinations that were kept perfectly vertical with the other two brands tend to tilt out with the Beltman belt because it's more prone to twisting. To be fair, if I hadn't had the other brands with which to compare, I probably would have been more satisfied as Beltman makes a good product, just not as suitable to my needs and preference as the other two brands.

Based on the customer service and quality of product that I received from Comp-Tac in the past, I decided to give them a try with their kydex-reinforced leather gun belts. Like both of the IWB Minotaur holsters I purchased in the past, I've also been extremely pleased with the gun belt that I purchased from them. Take a look:

I have two one black and one brown Tucker Gunleather belts. Very well made and good looking. Been wearing them for years and they show very little wear.

I also like the belts that Comp-tac makes. You can get these with a curve and various other variations. They have a thin Kydex inner liner for stability. They are a very nice looking belt.

I have 2 from the Beltman. One is black and narrow for work. The other is tan and 1 1/2 inches IIRC. I love these belts and wear them daily except when I have to suit up for court.

Another choice, if you like a more casual look is The Wilderness Original Instructor Belt is also a good belt designed for tactical/gun belt duty. The price is right for them too.

may try a gunners alley just because of the quicker turnaround compared to 14 weeks for KD and 7 Months!!! for Tucker. Still really want a Tucker holster... but a few more guns are going to come in to the stable before that happens.

good point, all of us have slightly different needs....

For heavy weapons or high ride holsters, the stiffener and /or horse hide option would be better. None of my carry weapons are "all steel" versions... and none of my holsters are high ride so I didn't even think to make the recommendation based on your scenario.

I also have a belt by D.M.Bullard and will be buying another soon. Very pleased with it. And, he is in Azle, TX, convenient when I visit relatives in Azle.

Their Frequent Flyer belt is not a bad choice, either. In my work environment, a leather belt would be out of place. But my black FF fits in with my casual attire. I may even splurge for the Original Instructor for a change in pace.

Either of these in the Combat Shooter's configuration would work.
