Soccer mom loses PA permit
For some reason, the fact that she's now "forced" to open carry made my grin a bit. It will never cease to amaze me that people can mistake the danger of a properly holstered handgun with that of a grenade with no pin.

Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
Aint that a load of bull.
Edited to add: only problem I see in this story is that she didn’t conceal it good enough. If I had to option to carry at my sons sporting events I would. And where does the Sheriff get off by saying it was poor taste to carry it in that setting. I bet he always has his everywhere he goes.

Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
Oh my god...it's a gun!! run for the hills before it gets you...duh?Youth soccer coach Charlie Jones said he approached Hain at the Sept. 11 game and asked her to move to the other side of the field, away from the sideline where the children were standing, after hearing that some parents were upset at seeing her gun.
A good example of how the media, and others, have turned the gun into something evil to the point that now people panic just if they see one. (IMO)This is why I have some problems with the open carry group. It is not that I am against anyone exercising their right, it is just the reaction of those around that are the problem.
Put it on, cover it up, and forget it! No one will ever know the difference!

Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
I'm betting he shouldn't have been able to legally revoke her concealed-weapons permit either. The article isn't clear, but it seems that she has always carried openly (even with the concealed permit). Is open carry only limited to those without concealed carry permits in PA? Even so, carrying at a soccer game does not constitute a danger to public safety. The fact that she went through the effort to get a legal permit to carry further demonstrates that she is not a danger to the public.revoking her concealed-weapons permit was his only recourse because he could not legally confiscate her gun.
I agree with Wildscar. I bet the sheriff takes his everywhere he goes.

Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
The comments from the PA permit holders at the forum I found this at mentioned that precident has been set in PA for a properly holstered weapon being no danger to the public. She'll get her license back, and he'll have egg on his face.AggieBonz02 wrote:I'm betting he shouldn't have been able to legally revoke her concealed-weapons permit either. Darn it, you found my source. Be warned, whoever dares to click, that Fark is pretty much the antithesis of the 8-year-old rule.pbwalker wrote:It's listed on Fark. If you've got 15 minutes to kill and want to read 'some' comical arguing on this article, check it out.

That is dumb. But if I was her I would have concealed instead of open-carry as I'd hate for someone to know I had a gun and be able to grab it or make me their first target.

My comment on the original post is that the sheriff should be run out of town. He is obviously one of those who thinks free rational individuals of sound character and no criminal history should not be allowed to exeercise their God given right to keep and bear arms.
He should have told the panty wetters to mind their own business.

Just because you have a permit/license doesn't mean you HAVE to use it..or next time you are walking around the block to go to the local grocery store you can loose your license to drive right?!?Nachos Libres wrote:That is dumb. Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
^^ I was just stating my opinion. I agree the sheriff is ignorant, and don't understand why someone would take away a concealed carry license because they legally open-carried. I don't think the lady did anything wrong I was just stating my opinion that if I was allowed to open-carry I wouldn't do so because of the reasons I mentioned above. Just a personal preference I guess.

Re: Soccer mom loses PA permit
Under PA law, the sheriff can revoke a concealed carry permit if he believes the individual has shown poor judgment in his/her actions. In the sheriff's opinion, openly carrying at a sports event where young children were present is a sign of poor judgment.Nachos Libres wrote:^^ I was just stating my opinion. But the real question is, can a sheriff's badge be revoked for showing poor judgment?

This isn't the full story. The person who filed the complaint was Former District Judge Nigel Foundling, who serves as director of the Lebanon Recreation Youth Soccer Program. PA Open Carry Law: You do not need a permit to open carry as long as it's in plain sight. She has not threatened or intentionally intimidated anyone. PA legislation to ban firearms on PA public parks failed and did not become law. This is just another battle between gun owners and anti-gunners. Whether you are for, or against guns, the Law is LAW. She's innocent of the charges and she will with her court case. Most lunatic gunman choose random shootings at events with large crowds where people are having a good time and it goes to show how prepared she is to protect her daughter when everyone else is unarmed and not prepared for unexpected lunatics.

He's probably related to the Sheriff in the old story about the Black man who goes to register to vote, and the local Sheriff hands him a Chinese newspaper to read for the literacy test.
