Looking to purchase in October a Charter Arms 38spl Pink lady for my wife. I prefer to have the DAO model but not sure if it is made. Wife is scheduled to take her First CHL class the first weekend of October. Finally after 8 years I convinced her to get it. Any idea's were I might find one in the DFW area?

I know next to nothing about the Pink Lady, but I would suggest that your wife should not use it [or any revolver] for her CHL qualification. I don't want to undo eight years of work, but qualifying for "revolver only" status will severely limit what she can carry. If she finds out that she doesn't like the Charter Arms you will have to buy another handgun. If she prefers an automatic over a revolver, you will have to buy another handgun and she will have to take the range portion of the CHL class again. Check with the people giving the CHL class to see if they have loner guns that can be rented or borrowed for the class - many do.

Now for some unsolicitied advice. It's free so don't worry. I don't like Charter Arms handguns. I will admit that they are under new ownership, so their new guns may be better quality than in the past. IMO, the Charter Arms revolvers that I have handled at the gun shows have inferior workmanship -the trigger pull, fit and finish seems crude. With the S&W line, you can buy a similar type, but superior product for the same price. I do like the S&W LadySmith, and actually considered it for myself.

But, being in fear for my life, I will refuse to comment on the fashion or aesthetics of "pink guns." :biggrinjester:

There's a Gun Show this weekend @ Big Town I think. I don't know if they'll have the Charter but I know they always have the Tarus w/pink grips.

Not only is there a gun show at Big Town this weekend, but I have a $2 off admission coupon. Send me a PM with your email, and I will forward to you, if interested.

I have had a couple of Charters - they were OK. I had trouble with them (like the Taurus') if you short stroke the trigger they lock up. The older models were pretty solid, the newer ones are getting some complaints about qualty and breaking on MIM parts. For a comparable price to the Charter I would recommend the S&W model 637 - that is my wife's gun. I put a Crimson Trace on it for her and it is a great little handgun - light but not so much that it stings, really controllable, and shoots cheap(ish) ammo for range time. I paid about $310.00 NIB at one of the Fort Worth shows. Course the CT grips added to the cost but they came later.

ditto the S&W 637. I really love my new 637, but I agree with the sentiment of NOT doing the CHL with a revolver. There's absolutely no sense in being limited to a revolver for carry when most instructors even offer a loan of a semi for those that do not have their own. Test with the semi, then carry the revo if that's the choice.

I have owned 2 Charter Arms pistols myself. I would not suggest them for a carry weapon. I would recommend Smith & Wesson based on the three that we have owned.
Just trying to keep you from having to buy two guns, OE ;-)

There are several on gunbroker.com right now. Just type in "Pink Lady" in the search box.

Goodluck in getting your wife one.

Loner guns?
What? They don't like to hang out with other guns?
Maybe they're "Single action" only?
They should get out more.

Forgive me, WildBill; I couldn't resist.

Got me too... I'm so accustomed to trying to read "[abbreviated profanity deleted]-net-ick speling" all over the net, I rarely notice now
