Guys, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but a quick question:
I have a .45 in texas with me and want to travel back to Philadelphia to go shooting with a friend. He also has my MP5 rifle that I want to bring back down with me. So here are my questions:
1. I am flying, on the way to phila I plan on putting the 45 in the rifle case and nothing else - no ammo I know that part. Any Issues here?
2. On the way back I will have the 45 and the MP5 in the rifle case, is that going to be an issue for the TSA?

Anyone know the laws/rules here?

Thanks
Jim

Hello JL,
Specific airlines often post their requirements on their website. I am sure some of the guys will chime in. I know the weapons can be transported on the airline legally, but they will have to be checked with your luggage. Below are Southwest's guns and ammunition policies.

TSA should not have any problems with multiple guns in a case, as long as they meet all other requirements. We never did when I worked for TSA.

I am actually just concerned never doing this before, I have read some real horror stories on other forums. (Not sure I believe all of them either).
Thanks all.

Shouldn't be any problem at all. I used to do historical re-enactments and one of the guys I used to go to other states with would bring his machineguns. If they didn't have a problem with an MG-42 and 2 MP40's I doubt you will have any fuss over a rifle and a pistol. You should have seen the look on the other peoples' faces when the lady made him open up the case carrying the MG-42.
