I am thinking about purchasing the new Kimber Desert Warrior as a replacement for the TLE I had.

Anybody here have any experience with one of these? Have you seen or picked one up? What is your opinion? Do you know of any place in the Houston area that might have one?

I just can't bring myself to buy one online without first seeing one in person.

I have a Desert Warrior. It is a fantastic gun. I shot it at the DPS CHL instructor school. That is the only place I have yet shot it outside my own range.

I carry a Kimber CDP daily. The Warrior has less muzzle flip and is back on target noticably quicker than the CDP. (The CDP is no slouch, and I qualified on TFTT's Advanced Tactical Pistol Course with the CDP ;) )

The warrior has great balance. I plan on using it at the next school I go to.

I do notice the difference in weight when I carry it. It is not uncomfortable, just different.

If you were in Dallas you could come shoot mine.

Here is mine after I received it and after I got in protection mode.

Terri,
I have seen several of these pistols at the Pasadena show. There is a shop out of clute (AJ sports or something like that). They are always located in the back left hand corner if looking at the show from the front door. I bought my AR from these fellas and reallly liked their service. I would be happy to ride over to Clute with you sometime when there is nothing going on during the weekend. Take care.

What is the difference between the Desert Warrior and the regular warrior besides the color? Are they the same gun otherwise? At the gun show yesterday I noticed about a $100 premium for the Desert over the regular.

The finish is the only difference.

Shooter's Station on 105 west in Conroe had one last week.

Most gun shops could probably get one in.

Hey Jason....is it AJC Sportshop?

I just found it there for $1025....I'd drive to Clute to save a $100!

MAN! That looks nice! It's hard to tell exactly what color it is, every picture I see looks different. I guess that's why I need to see one first!

It is actually more the color in the first pic. It looks more green in the second pic, but I think that has more to do with my pack of photography skills than anything else.

My shooting partner out at Frontsight was shooting one. I was fairly impressed with it. What's not to like? Series 1 safeties, internal extractor, with the "KimPro" finish. I do noticed that some Warriors have a skeleton aluminum trigger while others have a solid trigger. Other than the color, that is the only difference I can see.

You are correct. I completely forgot that the desert warrior has the solid trigger.

That solid trigger looks odd on a Kimber

I wouldn't mind checking out AJC's Sportshop on a weekend myself. However, I think I've spent too much $$ this year on firearms already. lol.
