North American Hunting Club?

Hello ladies and gents..

I received a packet in the mail (unsolicited) stating if I join the club.... I will be part of a select few that get to review new hunting equipment. The great benefit according to the letter is that I get to keep the reviewed item. This apparently can be anything from a new rifle, gps, knife....all the way to a new rain slicker.... ooooooh.

Anyone part of this checainery?

Thanks folks,

Rok

Don't know about the NAHC, but I used to be a member of the "Handyman Club of America" that claimed they would send tools to evaluate.
Monthly, I read how other people tested and kept table saws, shapers, planers and even ATVs.
I got a 99 cent plastic utility knife to test and keep. Twice!
It arrived right before my subscription was up. Both times!

In my second review (neither was published) I said that the knife was just as good as the first one they sent and now I had a matched set!
I dropped my membership after that.

I get all kinds of stuff like that and it just goes in the round file next to my desk.

If it sounds to good to be true _____________!!!

90% of my mail is junk, just like that "offer".

I watched a show once where a guy had subscribed to every similar but free mail order thing he could find. He had a method for shredding his mail, getting the paper strips wet, then pressing them into logs and would heat his house with them.

He also had a stationary bicycle hooked up to a generator to run his TV, but thats going a bit far!

Personally, I consider the most valuable part of the mailing to be the plastic hunting license pouch.

Oh, and the scratch pad.

I liked their monthly magazine. I wound up w/ a NAHC Cookbook that is pretty good.

It's a halfway decent magazine, but don't expect anything more than that. If they send unsolicited merchandise you can do what you want with it. You don't have to pay for it if you didn't ask for it.

Didn't you just ask this same question on another board?

Here's an idea for you Charger...take the prepaid mailer that comes with most of that junk, insert the junk offer, and send it back to them. "rlol"

I joined once...maybe 10 years ago. They sent me some boot wax to evaluate. And I got an interesting hardcover book about North American game. Not a total rip off, but they didn't send cutting edge new hunting equipment for me to try out on a regular basis either.

Might I recommend you send the money you would otherwise send to the NAHC to the NRA or Republican Party instead... :txflag:

I think the most important word you used was (unsolicited)! How many phone solicitors have you responded to?

I do that all the time. In fact I sometimes send some of the extra junk mail I get that doesnt come with prepaid envelopes. I figure that since they were kind enough to share their junk with me Its only fair that I reciprocate. :txflag:
