What have you planned for 2008?
Time is running out and the dollar is going down. Buy what you can and when you can. What is your plan?

1911 or a pistol caliber carbine if I can come up with the funds.

THAT is going to scare the pants off the anti-gunners!
"IT'S A SWITCHBLADE GUN!"
Next thing you know those morons at KENS will be crying for the Federales because they want to claim that the Drug Lords of Mexico are buying these things retail over here.
If the Mexican police and military don't like the concept of things crossing the border maybe THEY would like to build a fence.

I may buy another snubbie if I find a good deal. I'm definitely doing at least 4-5 days of training in 2008.

I'll be picking up a Rossi R462 snubbie at the end of this week. It will by my first revolver.boomerang wrote:I may buy another snubbie if I find a good deal.
I'm also planning an SKS or AK variant (or both), a reloading setup, and a Dragunov SVD if I can save up enough. Oh, and probably a Rock Island 1911 Tactical. And a pocket BUG of some sort. Oh, and some sort of .22LR plinking pistol; the Walther P22 has my eye these days.

I'm going to focus on weapons that are likely to be banned, SBR type weapons, and high capacity mags for most of the desirable/popular guns.

Re: What have you planned for 2008?
So far, I've got a S&W Model 642 Revolver with Crimson Trace® Lasergrip planned for The Annoyed Woman - who has promised that she'll take her CHL class if she could carry a revolver. She's not a gun person, and she wants it to be as simple as possible. She agreed to qualify with a semi-auto so that she could have the option to change pistols later, but she just wants a small revolver for now.
Also, my 18 year old son has decided that he would like a Taurus PT 1911 of his own, which I will have to actually purchase for him since he is not yet 21, but it will be his money paying for it. The Annoyed Boy and I spent some time Saturday checking out pistols, and he has decided that he really wants a 1911 type, and the Taurus fits his budget. He likes shooting my 1911s, but wants his own. I think I can understand that.
He also says that, on the day he turns 21, he's going to start the CHL process. I'm glad that he has the opportunities that I never had at his age, growing up in California.
But other than those two items, I don't think I'll be buying any more firearms this year. I spent a lot of money on guns last year (Remington 700 VSF in .308, Savage 10FP-HS Precision in .308, Bushmaster Varminter in 5.56/.223, H&K USPc in .40 S&W, and a Sig 1911 GSR Revolution Carry Stainless). It would be hard to justify more, while still maintaining the harmony of the marital bed.

Re: What have you planned for 2008?
I'll be investing in some misc. gun parts. Just recently got back about 5 hunter ed. guns and a crossbow that were stolen back in 2005. I thought we'd never see 'em again. But they were in apartment of a guy busted for credit card thefts and burglary of a Baptist church in Denton. (Yeah, no conscience whatsover ...)
He was a real cobbler. Took the scopes and off of all of 'em, a hack saw to a shotgun barrel ... Magazines, screws, scopes missing ... I've got one back functional thus far. It may be a while on the others - if ever. A couple of 'em almost not worth fooling with ...

And I'll bet that the BATF isn't interested in filing federal charges for his possessing a sawed-off shotgun without paying the tax and having paper work.

Absolutely, positively the best outcome. The Annoyed Woman - who has promised that she'll take her CHL class.
Can you imagine how much violent crime would decline if the majority of women carried--and knew how to use--firearms?
