Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott today announced the arrest of 13 Louisiana fugitives who went into hiding during the evacuation from Hurricane Katrina.

All 11 men and two women were wanted in connection with some type of violent crime, including three on charges of homicide. Nine were arrested in Houston, two in Fort Worth, one in Austin and one in Conroe.

The fugitives were captured in late November and December, using information provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Governor's Office of Homeland Security. Law enforcement officers in Harris, Tarrant and Montgomery counties assisted in the arrests.

"Texans rightly opened our arms and hearts our Louisiana neighbors as they fled the devastation of Hurricane Katrina," Abbott said today in a prepared statement. "But even as we provided a refuge for evacuees in need, we will not allow fugitives from the law to exploit the situation by hiding in our state."

Law enforcement officials are still looking for several other individuals, including a convicted felon wanted for a parole violation in connection with the death of an infant.

Eugene Davis, 38, whose last known address is Southlake, was arrested in 1985 after physically abusing a 6-month-old baby who died as a result.

Davis, who was convicted of manslaughter, was paroled in 1992 and a parole violation warrant issued on Jan. 6, 2004, after he failed to report to his parole officer.

Also missing is Troy Dixon, 29, who is wanted for allegedly trying to run over a Louisiana law enforcement officer in July.

Dixon's last known address is in Houston. Anyone with tips about their location is urged to call their local police department or sheriff's office."

Some proof that dangerous criminals did come over here after Katrina. I would be surprised if they were all behaving themselves while they were here.

Ok, before everyone labels me as "negative nancy" today...

Why is is they don't post the pictures and data on these folks they are looking for on every newscast from here to Christmas???

I know Greg Abbott likes the attention, and thats ok...But instead of focusing in on him and what he's saying...Scan and broadcast the pictures and names of those they are looking for...

They showed glimpses of them on the news every now and then...

And those of us whom are computer savvy, can find the rogues list somewhere out in cyberspace...And even post them here...

But in the communities where they believe these individuals are...I wonder if they even know who and what us normal people should be looking for???

Mr, Dreadlocks looks to be someone fairly easy to spot...

I just have to wonder...And this has been going on for a couple of days so far...You'd think they'd already snagged this guy by now...
