Hey all...anyone have any opinions on Bond Arms derringer pistols?? Seems like a nice BUG or a pocket carry alternative for those hot TX spring/summer/fall/winters that we tend to have.

Also check out the section where they have videos of Bob Munden doing his amazing shooting with one (45 LC).

Thanks!

ps I've been contemplating a nice S&W hammerless 38 for awhile now, but this caught my eye as a possibility. Plus you can shoot 14 different calibers.

The one I checked out really impressed me. I wanted something to shoot same ammo as my Vaquero (.45 LC). The idea of packing two rounds of .410 3 inch magnum 00 buck (5 pellets each) sure grabbed me too. If I had the extra $$$ no doubt I'd get one, but the things almost a big (and heavy) as my G27!

My wife has one in .45 colt/.410. I have shot it more then her. It is fun to play with. I have even carried it in my pocket a few times. But I will say this, I did not like it as a carry gun. It is big, heavy, 2 shot, and single action. I think that if you had it in a bag or purse and it was being used as a BUG, then it might be ok. But in the pocket, its a no.
My wife just liked the way that it looked so she got it. She does not like the way that most of my guns look.

I wouldn't be able to justify it. My Bersa Firestorm 9mm ultra-compact is the same size and weight as the larger ones, and can carry 14 rounds.

I have thought about buying one myself. However, when I saw one up close, it's BIG for a derringer. You can get a small auto that's about the same size and carry more rounds, so I decided against it for carry gun. I still think it would be fun to have one, though.

I looked at these over at collectors, and was very impressed with the ability to shoot .410. Am still considering one, though I hope to make my kel-tec my BUG

Anyone considering using .410 buckshot as a defense load needs to hop over to
http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot41.htm and take a look at how .410 buckshot works out of a Taurus Judge revolver(With a longer barrel than a derringer)
