Suspect Critically Injured During Alton Home Invasion

#1

Post by WildBill »

I am posting this home invasion story mostly as an example of really bad reporting, writing, spelling and editing.

http://www.team4news.com/Global/story.a ... 0&nav=0w0v
A suspected robber is in critical condition after being shot during a home invastion in Alton.

The violent incident ocurred over the weekend near the intersection [abbreviated profanity deleted] Glasscock and Five and a Half Mile Line.

Police say a pair of armed robbers forced three men into an apartment there and demanded money.

One of the victims allegedly managed to escape and come back with a gun shooting both of the suspects.

The two men were arrested after seeking medical treatment at La India Convenience Store.

One of the suspects, who was only identified as a San Juan man, was the torso causing him to lose a kidney, his spleen and is also in danger of losing a lung.

Action 4 News will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest developments as soon as they become available.
I also wonder if the men actually sought medical treatment at a convenience store or if this is another error in the story.

It's possible that it was the first place they saw, or they knew someone there who might help them.

I'm beginning to think that transcribing TV news stories for web sites has been outsourced to Elbonia. Obviously no one performs quality control.

You know what they say...with an infinite number of monkeys and typewriters you will get War and Peace. Well, this is what you get if you have a lot fewer monkeys and typewriters ;-)

The story does track with what I've been examining in other self-defense news stories: once a citizen home defender gets his hands on a gun, it usually ends very badly -- for the home invaders. Good guys generally come out OK once they are armed and start the counter attack.

Here's a couple of updates. One report states that the home invaders used a fake gun like from the "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Keep in mind the location, the first reporter may not even have a green card, let alone be an American citizen.

sorry to burst your bubble, buddy, but i happen to live in the area where this took place and not everyone here in this area requires a green card! i am hispanic but i am a born american citizen. heck i even have an american flag tattoo on my arm. now, i will admit we do have idiots for reporters but that is why i watch channel 5 news and not channel 4!: i have some choice words about "undocumented aliens", and would hate to be considered one just because of where i live. my $.02 :patriot:

That's the problem with people from Elbonia, they type with their elbows...
