"The federal Liberal plan would ban most of the registered handguns in Canada"

First they registered them, then not long afterwards they work to ban all those registered guns.

They passed the registration law in 1995. The deadline for registration was 2003. And it 2005 they're already talking about confiscation of many of the newly registered guns.

Actually I think the deadline for registration was earlier than that, and then it was moved because hardly anybody met it, and then it was moved...

Of course there were those of us who warned our Canadian friends that confiscation would follow some day.

Don't confuse the relatively recent rifle registration scheme, with handgun registration. Handguns in Canada have been registered since 1934. The 1995 legislation (the nationwide registry) also banned some previously-legal, lawfully registered handguns.
