What is the forums opinion of this one? They appear to be a glock in S & W clothing. I have heard of bad triggers but that is all. Please advise.

Unless it's free I'd save my money for something else. I don't know much about them but they sure are ugly.
For just a little bit more you could get a Glock instead. As for cheap, I'd get a Taurus Mil Pro or 24/7 over a SW auto any day of the week.

This opinion is from hearsay and NOT actual experience, other than the occasional fondleing at a gun shop.

I have had friends that loved thiers. The ones I have played with weren't bad. Sure the triggers aren't the crispest, but they weren't bad. I don't know if a smith could make it better. I've not heard of many reliability issues except with the small .380. For what they are and what I generally see them going for, you could do a lot worse.

HV is right on about the Taurus if your looking for an inexpensive quality gun.

BTW beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. I happen the think the Sigmas aren't too bad.

I'm am waiting to get a little play time with Smith's new plastic framed gun the new M&P. It looks promising.

Maybe Stevie will chime in about the Taurus pistols. He has one that he loves. The ones I've owned were really nice guns.

From a person who has seen and observed many Sigmas, I would pass on all but the newest ones.

Too many bad samples, and the triggers (from experience) are terrible.

The Taurus are not bad at all.....

Thanks to all who answered. The reason I asked is that our Academy store has a 20% discount on handguns (except Glock and Desert Eagle) and the S & W is priced at 318.00. With the discount, the SIGMA would be less than 275.00. I have Glock, S & W revolvers and Rugers and feel they are the best, but I am a sucker for a good price on gun. Academy has a small selection of handguns but their prices are much better than the other Houston area retailers. I will wait for more responses but the gut tells me GLOCK for the next auto 9.

Heck for that price I'd go for it. If it is just going to be a pliker and not a serious defensive gun.

+1 on making a Glock your next auto. Smith makes a fine revolver....but why buy their version of the Glock? I am one of those guys that hated the "plastic guns" for a long time, but the desire to hear a bang everytime I pull the trigger has created a huge model 17 fan in me. Good luck on your decision.

I know what you mean about being a sucker for a good deal. I still wouldn't buy the Sigma though. There are always good deals that will come along and you might wish you'd saved that money when the next one does.

Papalote,
The Academy stores around here sell the CZ P01. If you can get one for 20% off plus your discount that should be a good price. CZ makes a very good pistol for the money. Out of curiosity what are the CZ P01s going for in the B'mont Academy? I might have to drive over that way if the price is low enough. Thanks, good luck!

Have a friend who has one that he bought used from a "friend w/ a good deal" & he knows why it was for sale. Some feed problems. Trigger real mushy. Rear sight won't stay put. His is a .40.

I'll check the price of the CZ on my next trip to town. As you can imagine, the selection is thin due to the discount. At this time I think I will refrain from the Sigma and continue stacking pennies for the GLOCK. BTW, Glocks at Academy are 497.00. Thanks again for all the guidance.

The CZ PO1 is priced at 458.XX at the Academy in BMT. They are selling lots of handguns with the discount.

I have the SW9VE, and I love it. Sure, it's not a glock, but I can keep a tight 8" grouping at 20 yards. I have put many rounds through it, and no action issues.

As long as I don't plan to bury it in dirt or go swimming with it, and keep it clean, it's a great bang (pun intended) for the buck.
