*If* it would get common enough for ammo to be easily available, I'd look at getting one for my wife; she's not likely to ever want to carry a .357, and this would give her a bit more than a .38+P plus an extra shot.

Of course, this assumes she won't just get herself a 1911. She shoots my Gov't Model pretty well, and doesn't mind the recoil or the weight at all.

If it will outperform the .38 Special, it should sell well merely on account of the extra round. LOL again, say you are a revolver person working in a pharmacy who must take out three perps in rapid succession, you could double tap them all.

When Ruger announced their SR9, they also announced that their policy had changed and products would be announced when they were available.

But I've made a couple of inquiries about this SP101 and been met with blank stares.

Maybe they're back to announcing and then producing a year later.

They would be better off going to 6 rounds of 38/357 in the SP101 and 7 rounds of 38/357 in the GP100. Colt did it without much of a problem and anyone looking for a 7 shot full size frame must go to S&W, Taurus, or Rossi.

With the Taurus 608, you get 8 rounds of 38/357 in a revolver.

As you can with a S&W 327 or 627.

However, they don't fit in the compact, low recoil category that Ruger was trying for.

I wouldn't mind having a revolver in a useful caliber with >10 capacity :)

If you hammer em in real tight, I bet you could fit 12 or 13!!!!

the size of the .327mag revolver will be about the same/slightly smaller than the j-frame with slightly more barrel...

many people like the .32 for concealed carry as it offers a relatively decent amount of power in a controllable platform... some ppl simply don't like .38 or .357 i guess...

personally i don't want one.. but the application is more towards light weight control and follow up shots... personally i'll keep the .380 for control and follow up, and my .40 and .45's for power.

There is a market, just not for most of us... and being that the ammunition won't be readily available like 38special it will be more pricey and more difficult to get.

And that's the $64 question.....will the ammo companies ramp up their production of .327RUG, .32MAG, & .32S&W enough to make it as available and as price competitive as the .38SPL, .357MAG, or 9mm?

It sounds like a good cartridge....but I'd rather see Ruger make the 9mm SP101 again...maybe with an ejector system that doesn't need moon clips (like the old Medusa or S&W K-frame 547)....
