So I broke my gun..

I have a Keltec pf9 I traded for on this forum. After firing about 100 rounds I field stripped it to clean it. While disassembling I noticed a small piece of the aluminum part that basically looks like the mount that holds the hammer was missing. Pretty small peice, maybe the size of 2 BB's or so. Anyway, I'm irritated that keltec won't honor the warranty on a gun if you are the second owner. From the looks of it, I think the entire frame would need to be replaced, probably very costly.

I've already sworn off S&W for life after 2 guns I really despised, especially a sigma .40 that is still being manufactured even if it is possibly the worlds worst firearm. I'm now debating if I ever want another keltec with this crummy warranty.

Any of you sworn off a brand for life?

Haven't had an issue with any other companies. I'm working with Beretta on an issue now, but will have to wait and see how that goes. Glock is pretty good about things, though.

I see HP's around. They look like they have a low cost, and frankly that scared me away. That is one thing I hear about glock, 10th owner and they will still fix it free. I'm not going to buy anymore kel-tecs.

I had a PT-22 that broke the firing pin twice, Taurus repaired it each time but that was the straw. I ended trading it for 3 magic beans.

That gun pointed me away from Taurus, however I carry 1911's as a primary, I bought the Taurus as a low cost boot gun.

I Have learned over the years to save my pennies longer and go for the high end, I may one day be trusting my life to the firarm I am carrying and my life is worth the extra money.

I hear you on that. I have a problem, not being cheap, just enjoying bargains. I'd love a kimber 1911, but from the awesome things I hear about the RIA 1911, I figure its like buy one get one. I understand a kel-tec is designed to be a concealed firearm. It is rated pretty low on rounds/expected life. If I get this thing repaired, I doubt I'll fire it much, and disassemble as infrequently as possible. I chose it as I couldn't find another 9mm as small and concealable.

Did they actually deny coverage? If so, you may be the very first.
Kel-tec customer service is legendary.
Despite the warranty stating for original purchaser only, I have never known them to deny a warranty claim from non-primary owners.

No, but I went to their website under "warranty" and it states, in caps no less, Original owner only and must provide the original receipt (in the manual)

I know of this problem, I've had a few guns in my shop with it... two things to do. Send it to Kel-tec, regardless of their website, they will honor their warranty, just call them.

If you can PM me a picture of it I can tell you the quick fix for it, I just want to make sure it is the same problem first.

I have had nothing but excellent customer service from KT. Most of their wear related parts, springs, guide rods, ejectors, extractors, will be sent to you in the mail, free of charge, within days of request. I don't get that from Kimber.

But, I had a Ford once myself.........

i had an ejector break on my P11, http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... ght=#73970 , called KT explained what i had broken and they sent me another free of charge. never asked for proof of purchase or anything. I would call them and see what they have to say. i highly doubt they will deny you. good luck.

I also had an ejector break on my P 11. A common issue I have heard. I called and like you, they sent me an ejector no questions asked, no cost.

I have a Hi Point also. In my experiance they have terrific customer service. They will fix the gun whether you are the first or the tenth owner.
Hi Points also work very well for as cheap as they are. But they are not a weapon you can conceal very easily.
